I can’t help but wonder if the ethnicity of the victims as well as the defendant is playing a part here, bcos honestly, I’m surprised to see this much sympathy for someone with a mental illness, too. I mean, she can be mentally challenged AND guilty of the crime of arson and involuntary manslaughter or something akin to negligent homicide (to be fair, I think 2nd degree murder charges were inappropriate, considering the circumstances and the suspect’s clear disabilities; the DA should’ve sought lesser charges, and I bet the jury would’ve convicted). These things need not be mutually exclusive. As a side note, I do believe Kathleen’s son put the idea in her head, knowing that his mother had the mental capacity of a child (and other mental issues).

She literally murdered five innocent people for her son because she wanted to control her family and keep what she thought she lost. That's narcissistic. I would not feel safe with her in my neighborhood. I am mentally handicapped and I wouldn't hurt anyone and I understand laws. She showed no feelings for the victims but she was upset about her own situation instead. Defense attorneys can be very evil. He literally abused witnesses for his client and acts like it's okay because it's his job to help very dangerous criminals to be free from consequences. How is that justice? The reason no one has been converted for the murders is because the murderer was set free. She murdered five people by setting fire to their house.
