My parents actually met at this bar in 1968. Tony Mart’s in Somers Point, NJ, on a blind date. This is the real place and all of the biggest bands played there. The old timers in town all said this movie captured the era perfectly. My folks are both gone now but I can watch this and picture them being cool young college kids in the crowd.

I saw John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band with my at the time fiancé. He kind of made fun of the songs and I nearly tossed his ring back at him! He heard this tune and changed his mind. He passed in 2005 and I just randomly clicked on this video and yeah, I'm not crying, you're crying. It hits so much more now that he's gone.

I remember seeing it when it came out. I was 12. Had an instant crush on Michael Paré., or "Eddie". I don't think I was the only one. Smoldering good looks. Forever immortalized as "Eddie Wilson", the mysterious rockstar who you want so badly to believe escaped and is still alive out there somewhere, too cool for fame, but still rockin small little joints all over Europe. AND he has a cool dog named "Elvis". 😁

I just wish the younger generation will find a song or two that they will remember throughout their lifetimes. TENDER YEARS really says it all and brings back memories of a time I almost forgot about, a time in my life when things were taken for granted. My first love, family and friends. I married my first love and we're still married after 44 years but things are different now. I really do miss THE TENDER YEARS and apparently after reading the postings I'm not alone.

Wendell's reaction makes this scene work so damn well.. Eddie was getting into it and Wendell gave his seal of approval while the others were jealous, what a scene. Wendell was the true soul of that band along with Eddie, once he died it ruined them and Eddie especially. One reason why I love 2 is he gets another chance with Hilton who was just like him. Rick was his second Frank in his own way. Why I love 2 as much as this one.

Now I was only about 12 when it came out and me & my friends thought it was a documentary of sorts with the ad campaigns the way they were. We didnt know any better at first. LOL Even though this wasnt the music I grew up on (disco & rock) its something I appricate as much as anyone who did grow up as a teen-30 yr old in the 60s.

I saw them too once, it was closer to 10 years ago for me though. They did all these songs plus some other stuff; it was a great show!

It's amazing that this guy who I met at cooking school did such a fantastic job in this movie. John did so awesome on the music to both movies, they are my all time favorites!

I saw this movie in the theater when it came out and Michael Pare is perfect in this. I really thought he was singing until I found out later. lol

I REALLY wish that when THIS song was released, they would have released THIS RECORDING (with the extended ending we have here!)! THAT makes the performance EXTREMELY MORE EMOTIONAL! (But, if they hadn't released the shorter ending, as the soundtrack album has, THIS version might not have been so special! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Although Eddie and the Cruisers are a fictional band....the movie rocked. The actual band is John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band
