I just found out from these comments that, that wasn't even him singing in the movie. (sigh) that's a piece of info I really could've done without. Any who, it's currently May 24, 2022 I felt like going down memory land. Now, let me go watch THE LEGEND OF BILLIE JEAN, another one of my throw back favorites. 😏 ✌🏿peace love & hair grease! lol....

They tried saying Milli Vanilli was the same. I think everyone knew who Michael was and enjoyed the show. I think it was in poor taste when that New Jersey rocker covered this and everybody thought it was him and not John Rafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. Lesser known bands deserve the credit they are owed.

Yes, and no. It is clearly a '70s music style although in the early '80s, but it is supposed to be set in the early '60s, right at the start of the Beatles in America. Music was nothing like this then. There was Motown, there was heavily filtered commercial pop and bobby sox, there was country, there was jazz, and there was remnants of original rock and roll.

I agree, which is one of the best and worst parts of this movie. The music is very authentically late 70s/early 80s from the upper Jersey shore: plenty of bands playing similar stuff in the stone pony, Monmouth college, etc. Very much in the genre of early Bruce Springsteen. The problem is that this movie is supposed to take place in the late 50s, when there was a very different sound and rhythm to the popular music of the times.

I have 3 boys that are now 30 27 and 25 and I had them watch this when they were teens and they still love the songs from this movie, which is rare anymore now it's rap or country but there are amazing songs from this movie and band..
