The strange concrete construction covered in red stones is part of the remains of a network of bunkers and artillery posts along the coast that where built to prevent a hypothetical attack by the allies' forces in WW2. There's a vast network of tunnels that are potentially dangerous for adventurous tourists and so they were sealed.

Gabriel Traveler yes, Magallanes didn't make it all the way, he was killed in the Philippines. Only his second chief, El Cano and a few sailors could make it and become the first ever in travel around the world. Look for info of their travel, was a very interesting adventure!!!

Yeah that video from Greece went viral all of a sudden but just for a week or so. It got more than 4 million views and then died back down. I added an extra 10,000 or so subscribers in that week, but now I'm back to normal.

Been in El Medano last year with wheelchairs. And hiked/being pushed forward for 5 days around Tenerife thanks to Project U/Turn (Belgium organisation). In 2019 I’ll go back for new adventures.

Do you ever get tired of travelling? i personally need to go back home after 2-3 months of hostels and vagabonding. i've met so many people while travelling telling me they been travelling for over 6 months lol.. last year (2016) i traveled 3 times for about 2 months each but went back home for a few months in between each!

Yes, definitely, I was pretty traveled out at the end of my 6-month trip last year, so I went back to the U.S. for a few months to recharge. Not sure how long I'll hang in there this time, we'll see.

The white houses are old abandoned fishermen's cottages. Very few people do the "cottage style" fishing any longer in the Canaries. It's all industrial. So the cottages were abandoned as the province bought the land and converted it into public space.

Damn, you must have climbed that volcano twice to get all the walking shots haha. Looks awesome though! I climbed Teide when I was in Tenerife, so we missed out on all the other hiking spots. I'd definitely do this one when I hopefully return.

How is your total view count suddenly reduced from 18 millions down to 15 millions?

There was some glitch with youtube in which they gave me extra views. I noticed several million more views all of a sudden one day. I looked into it and it had happened with other youtubers as well. So there was something weird going on. I figured they would probably get subtracted and then they did a couple days ago. So no biggie, the current amount should be accurate.

Awesome video, Gabriel! Your series on the Canary Islands is one of your best series of travel vlogs. It would seem that you really enjoyed and felt an "affinity" for this subject matter. I can relate because like you, I grew up in California; though Southern California or at least Santa Barbara, California!L.o.l. Did you see a plaque or memorial commemorating the airplane accident at Tenerife in 1977? Two planes crashed into one another on the runway. I believe this crash was the worst in recorded history.

No I didn't. I did hear some reference to that accident but I didn't really know what had happened. That's crazy. There are two airports on Tenerife, that was the south airport in the video. Maybe it happened at the northern one?

How much do these long trips usually cost you by the end of them?

Good question, I don't really keep track because I'm getting paychecks as I go along. So I'm just keeping track of what's in my bank account and what I can afford from one month to the next. Last year on my 6-month trip around the world I was averaging probably $1,200 or so per month in terms of daily travel expenses. Now I'm making more on youtube so am spending maybe $1,800 a month or so. It depends a lot on where I'm traveling, Morocco was cheaper than the Canary Islands or France (I'm currently in Paris), but where I'm headed next will be really cheap so I'll get my costs down big-time. And then of course you have to add the cost of flights.

The box like structure could have been a well for the tomatoes but we are only guessing as the ground of a volcano is porous to let the water seep below. conservative shoe laces ha:) You did your info presentation very well:) was we right in Paris or no?

hey Jesse, yes I mostly used the Iconntechs in this video, then at the end of the video I started using the GoPro to get the views from the top of the mountain. But yeah the quality might appear improved, because in a couple of my first video with it I didn't have it set at 1080p, was shooting in 720 because I had my old computer which couldn't process the 1080. I got a new computer so am shooting in 1080. I agree it looks pretty darn good especially for such a cheap camera.

No, the laptop is still glitchy as heck and has lots of issues, but they don't prevent me from actually getting my videos done at least. So I'm just dealing with it for now and will be happy to get a new one sometime when I've got the money for it.

Someone commented about the weird-looking bunker that it was from WW2, and they sealed the entrance with cement. That makes sense. But yes I'm sure there must have been pirates around there throughout the ages as well.

I believe it's called ICONNTECHS - kind of like a GoPro.

In this video I actually used all three of my cameras. Check the info section below the video for the full names of them. But yes mostly I used my Iconntechs camera in this one, from the beginning up until I got to the top of the mountain. Then I wanted to capture the amazing scenery at the top better, so I switched to the GoPro with a wide angle. Used that for most of the rest of the video, and then the last scene with the sunset I was using my Olympus.
