Erica is so humble and unassuming, she's also very lively and bright. Despite being intelligent she's not afraid to make fun of herself, no wonder Ricky fell for her. Ricky is also a sensible man, he sounds smart and mature. He balances Erica's weirdness, actually they balance each other. Haha. I like your love story because Ricky wasn't stereotypical of Filipinos when compared to his other countrymen. Also it's usual for Filipinas not to show affection toward males in the beginning of getting to know each other stage as they don't want to be branded as easy to get. They are also used to being wooed by the guy first before they admit to their feelings AND the guy usually initiates the first I Love Yous bwahaha. In the olden days Filipino males would even work for the family of the females to show their sincerity and enduring love (magsibak ng kahoy, mag-igib, magtrabaho sa palayan) only after the male has successfully proven himself and gained the parents' approval will they let him marry or be committed to their daughter. Also in our culture, girls who bluntly show affection towards males are branded as being cheap because we feel thats it's not ladylike to easily give in but things are changing now with the younger generation😅 Chaperoning is also very common for us esp if you are travelling and not yet in a relationship, also given that Erica is in a foreign land. Girls would usually bring a close friend for safety purposes and also the friend can size up the guy if he passed and earned her approval. In the Philippines, it's the tradition for the guy to pursue or court the girl and the girl will only be active in dating once you're officially together or boyfriend/girlfriend. As for bringing a friend, she was starting to get to know you, it was a trip a bit far away and for security, a girl will usually bring a friend with her. That's my thoughts anyway

Something I’ve noticed repeatedly is that southeast Asians look much younger than East Asians. Maybe cause I am half asian I can recognise this and most westerners cannot. For them, all Asians age slower than them but I can see it between south East and eastern Asians. I believe eastern Asians have a diet higher in meat and alcohol and cold drinks could contribute to different ageing. I am not being offensive, I mean it positively. Koreans are one of the best looking people but more often I can tell accurately how old they are and sometimes they are much younger than I guessed. South East Asians look much younger over all, this is why I was shocked his wife was one year older , which isn’t a lot but I really thought she is 7-8 years younger than him. His grandmother was right he does look middle eastern 😂 he has big eyes and a high nose and facial hair. I love this couple they are so sweet, so glad I found them.

It's a culture thing. In the past when someone would ask me out, I also do bring friends with me. I think I felt more secured since the person is not that familiar. I believe that's the reason. And you made the right decision marrying a Filipina. I am not saying we're all perfect but most of us are caring and loving by nature. And even when we get angry, we still do good things to people we love. We always put them first. I wish you both all the best!
