Tennant Creek and the surrounding areas in the Northern Territory of Australia has had a great deal of rain during the months of February and very early March. Due to the amount of rain, the roads in the area were starting to fall apart and develop holes in the bitumen surface making it a challenge to drive through flooded sections of road without falling into the holes.
This video shows the section of road from Tennant Creek south 114kms to Wauchope and how the flood waters have made it a challenge for us to get home in our road train.

Hi Mick, thank you for the video showing the current NT flood situation in basically real time. Most people in Australia wouldn't have any idea about the current flooding in the NT. Unfortunately with the main stream news services in the country, whatever happens in the NT isn't considered news worthy. Keep up the great work and stay safe

To those outside of Australia ,these conditions may seem bizarre, yet all in a days , weeks etc work of long haul Truck Drivers. As a driver it's fascinating watching, each environment different and a new challenge.I moved in my chair dodging the soft edge on the side of the road ! Much enjoy the effort you make Mick.

Agree with a previous comment about the lack of media coverage on this fairly unique event. We traveled from Marree SA to the Gulf via Stuart & Barkly Highways after Christmas. Roads had just reopened. We were stunned by the amount of water around - absolutely spectacular!

I was a FIFO in Derby from Brisbane, 3 months on 2 weeks off for 3 years in 2011. Free flights home but decided to take my car and drive home everytime at my expense, 4500klm each way, some thought i was insane. But seeing how the land can change from dry to wet, it was the best experience i ever had, it never got tiring. Keep up the good work Mick & Sally.

Amazing flooding, was interested to see the creek flow at Bonny Well, just south of Kurundi Rd as in 60's & 70's a raging river of water. After rains was always great swimming holes. On a hot summers weekend worth the drive from TC for a day. The Wauchope Hotel always a cold beer. Wycliffe Well started out as a market garden. Much like Barry Caves on the Barkly..prices were thru the roof compared to everywhere else. Driving the Stuart and Barkly Highways today is so very different to 60&70's. Injoy you're videos.

You will enjoy Australia when you get there. As long as you do not drive through flooded creeks and flood ways, there is no danger to travel any road in Australia. January is our hottest month here in Australia, so if going that way, be prepared with plenty of water.

Unless they close the road while we are on it, we don't really know what is happening. The water will drop quickly although the road has been shut many times for several hours at a time during previous rain events.

Just a comparison! Some of the deepest water wasn't far up the guide posts but stretched for quite a way. Where I am in NSW the water can be over the guide post and stretch about 30feet across. It's all about knowledge, experience and professionalism!

Wow, it's not very often that you see an Egret wading on the Stuart Hwy! I'll be up that way in just over a month in my red 60 series Landcruiser. 1- I'll keep an eye out for ABC Transport triple road trains (I'm guessing that's what you drive) 2- I'm sure the worst of it will be long gone in a month, but it'll probably still be quite green...

You will see plenty of ABC triples up there, yes that was what I drive. It has been green up there now for months and will probably stay that way for a long way to come. Enjoy your trip when you do it.

Gee it must be so frustrating for the driver having to slow down and get going again and hard on the truck, where you would normally be rolling along at a a steady speed, not to mention the danger of someone forces you off the road. So much water it’s unbelievable. PS Ime amazed they didn’t close the road

Parts were closed so we heard, but we had no issues with the truck. Cars were not able to get through. Night time driving that we did was a bit scary at times, hard to see flooded waterways in the headlights until you are right on them.

15min, depth said 20cm flood level, Mick. Earlier the buzzer started going off, was that a limiter of some sort? Would presume, so long as the wake caused by speed is sorted, would you drive all day in still calm water too.
