People like to make fun of all the catch rules nowadays, like having to make a "football move" and keeping control through contact with the ground but you have to admit we have a much better idea of what constitutes a catch nowadays.

Tennessee was a really good team but they squeaked by in this one on a missed short FG. Also, Arkansas almost beat the Vols at UT, too. And the National Championship game vs Florida State was close even tho FSU had a backup QB. Tennessee didn’t have a great offense that year. They had a great defense.

Honestly, if Clint Stoerner doesnt trip on his lineman's foot, stumble and fumble the ball, Arkansas wins.. That game was pretty much over until that crazy fumble. But thats what happens on the way to a Natty,....things seem to go your way and 1998 was special for the Vols. They played FSU with their third string QB playing, dont forget that. If Weinke is there, FSU may have gone back to back in 98 and 99.

Well Florida has had plenty of lucky games. For instance in 1998 season vs Alabama. They had a chance to beat TN, they just didnt have the horses.

Tennessee did not get lucky - the Vols defense forced those turnovers with brutal tackling, pressure and a great one-hand interception. Fla ended up this game with single-digit rushing yards - that is the defense physically beating up the offense.
