Turning of the hand at the top definitely allows for more reach. I bought your serve lesson package. Not sure I saw this there but a comprehensive guide. Thank you.

*Jeff is the Serve Surgeon!* Getting that tossing arm straight up to the sky helps to achieve a better shoulder-over- shoulder cartwheel-like motion.

This man has given me sampras serve with his elbow tip, you better listen to him, no coach at my club or at my last club could teach me how to serve properly, and just by thinking about that elbow tip, and adjusting to it myself, now i feel like i have sampras serve, i just go into the court and boom, boom, boom, i elbow all those enemies and serve bombs within inches of the lines, i feel so good, now i just have to be born again so i can go pro

@@TennisEvolution its been a few days since i practiced it i have to do it again i noticed i was tossing the soccerball heavier of course my head was up my arm and hand straight up i was looking at the ball longer because of the size it trained my head my arm my hand eyes to be in unison. when i tossed the tennisball i was still thinking of a largerball it was in slo mo and in unison. ( i played soccer as a goalkeeper for many years til 42 years old we used to train with a tennisball to act quick footwork positioning coordination get my arms can easily go straight up hands fingers can easily move and position. and redirect a ball eye cordination is important when we used a soccerball we stil were thinking it was a small ball gave awareness.control coordination etc. i hope this made sense.

Great post!! You need to do a post on differences between J toss and regular one. Purposes of both .

Great ideas thanks Jeff will incorporate into your other tips, serve improving letting the ball drop a bit before hitting up is helping along with your other tips. I have written them all down so if I need I can look in my tennis bag to find the concepts that I feel are relevant to me. This tip is good to lessen chance of collapse and as you say and get some side bend.

I am a successful tennis coach who has been following Jeff's videos since before he rebranded to Tennis Evolution, have met him in person multiple times and bought just about every program he has offered. I really like this video. I have been stressing to my students to put up their "palm tree"(get it?) and making their tree vertical, straight up like in this video. I observed that Thiem and Zverev were both reaching up even beyond vertical for their serves during the 2021 US Open final, so I began emphasizing the "toss, put the palm tree up while executing the relax legs squat swiveling down the spiral staircase (Jeff's 4" swivel tip). If they keep their face up and left should from dropping too early, their serves are almost always good if they reach this trophy position. Going out to try this tomorrow for myself. I suspect that I will like it and incorporate it into my teaching.

Perfect reminder for reinforcing my serving form. Thanks! I caught myself not raising my toss arm when taking practice swings. If I didn't correct that, I might not do it during a serve. Gotta practice the whole motion with all body parts during shadow swings.

This is great advice. You end up hitting with way more power, plus it helps you hit up on the ball and keep your head and eyes on the ball longer. I couldn't believe the difference it made when I realized I needed to do this before seeing this video. I am in my sixties, so I realized I had lost a lot of flexibility, so getting that arm up there took some time, with stretches like Jeff is showing. Once it becomes muscle memory you are good to go. Your also hitting the ball at a higher point so you have a better angle to get more serves in and open up some shorter slice serves. I also got more kick right away.

I tried that exercise today and I was amazed as to how well I can hit my serve. Though, I need more practice, because after a while I loose the feeling and position of the arm, I enjoyed it a lot. I will continue practicing the techniques.

Jeff...could you give any tips for ensuring the correct release point for the toss. I have a tendency to often release the ball at shoulder level. Thank you.
@allboutthemojo3 жыл бұрын
Good question because if you practice your arm going straight up like shown here without perfecting the release, your toss will arch behind you. To me the release should be just above eye level.
