@@epicgurus2287 I've been watching Alcaraz since before he won the US Open. The 8-month slump after Wimbledon was because his older GF, Ana Mena, broke up with him since she couldn't handle his fame. Now they are back together and see each other when time permits. Zverev had beaten him during his slump early this year, but if Alcaraz keeps his current form, Zverev will never be able to beat him again unless Alcaraz allows it. The only person who can beat him now is Sinner, the only one who challenges him.

zverev went into the 4th set with a 2-1 lead, then immediately got nervous and went off at his team. he could have won the match in 4 but got taken to a 5th. while the break would've given him a lead, his history in big moments (this match included) doesn't instill confidence in him consolidating that break

It'll be interesting when/ if Carlos hits grand slam number 10. If he's able to do it before turning 25, then I think he will have a great chance to catch up or even surpass Nole. But until he can consistently win slams, I think at this point, he's just a potential for greatness. Media is heaping lots of hype towards him at the moment and I think they are putting way too much pressure on someone so young. Let him play his game and win few more slams consistently before people comparing him to the greats.

People who are saying Zverev was robbed are lying to themselves and pretending that this sort of thing has never happened before. Zverev lost the match because of his mentality, plain and simple. The call was a replay point, not a point awarded, and Zverev had more break opportunities in that game alone. If he had that champion’s mentality, he wouldn’t have let that get to him as much as it did. He could’ve taken any of those other break points or tried again in the remaining games of the match. Easy for me to say I know, but this sort of thing separates the coulds from the champions.

Exactly, this is the correct answer. The whole 'robbed' hot take is massively overblown. Besides, Hawkeye can be notoriously inaccurate on clay, more so than on other surfaces because of its dynamic nature. 2mm is well within the margins of error for the rudimentary and not fully calibrated Hawkeye setup that most clay tournaments have in every match, which includes this RG final. At that point, an experienced umpire may actually be more accurate/correct than a very basic/uncalibrated Hawkeye setup.

I think this is a result of bad timing: the media has been frantically looking for new talent to promote for when the Big 3 inevitably retire, and because Alcaraz was clearly the best of the bunch (and better than the supposed "next gen"), he got the brunt of this hype. That along with certain people's inability to accept change or challenges (cough cough, Novak fans) adds scrutiny to his game to see if he measures up to his hype and the legacy of the Big 3, instead of his peers like everyone else

I'm gonna have to disagree with that because of a simple reason. Every sport progresses as a whole in terms of level and skills - so does tennis. Players hit harder, they move faster, they serve better, etc. Also, both John McEnroe and Boris Becker (legends) said that Alcaraz plays better at 21 than any of the Big 3 when they were 21. And don't forget that last year after the Wimbledon final, Djokovic stated that he had never faced a player so complete as Alcaraz - and he was barely 20 then. So just quit living the past and embrace the fact that players like Alcaraz or Sinner are dope af and can become legends too.

Nobody cheated. Neither player (or the umpire for that matter) had access to Hawkeye, so they were just going off a mark, which can be quite misleading and hard to read. Even if the Spanish get angry. Roland Garros 2024 was the scene of the biggest mistake in the history of tennis, for many a robbery. And this error or theft directly benefited the favorite tennis player of the brands and the ITF / ATP, this error stained his title and he is not a fair champion. Thats because he had a lot of points to defend from 2023 which he was unable to do so despite doing better in the French Open (he missed Barcelona and list in the QF at Madrid) so he wasn't in the contention, whereas Sinner had alot less compared to him and Novak putting him in contention (and was pretty much guaranteed if Novak failed to defend his title) for the top spot.

Even if he won every match in straight sets at RG he couldn't have achieved #1. All that matters is how they finish each tournament compared to the previous year. Sinner was guaranteed to be #1 as soon as Djokovic wasn't able to defend his title. With that being said Alcaraz already became the youngest male #1 ever and has accomplished more than any other male in tennis at his age. Sinner is also amazing and a great #1.
