Prior, i used Prince, Ashaway, Forten, klipper, tourna, technifibre, Luxilon and Wilson, In the Spring, I used the co poly Hawk Touch and really liked it. In the Summer I used Head Pro Sonic Edge and Pro Sonic they are more crisp than hawk touch but I really liked them as well. I am glad I have a couple more Head strings on hand to string up racquets at later dates. The string prices are reasonable compared to their competition and the performances of the string is very good.

Good video! But, HEAD made racquets before Prince did. Remember the HEAD Master and the Professional (the red head)? They pre-date Prince racquets. Also, like you, I recommend the Hydrosorb grips! A great product! HEAD makes some fine racquets but I am turned off by the gimmicky-ness where every 2 years or so they add a new component to their frames, e.g., flexpoint, innegra, microgel, liquid metal, graphene, graphene XT, graphene touch, graphene 360 and graphene 360+. It seems that I buy a HEAD racquet and all of a sudden it's already outdated.
@a2casius4 жыл бұрын
I agree. I went off head for that same reason. But sometimes, some of the "Tinkering" works but I'd say few and far between. As consumers, what we want is Quality and Consistency and if a manufacturer decides to go off in tangents almost constantly, in my books, they can't be trusted any longer.
@LuchoVena4 жыл бұрын
innegra and microgel did seem to do their jobs, liquidmetal too but disliked by some (I find too much rattling and power), I guess that graphene could be the same (works but disliked) but there is the idea since graphene is so expensive, how much of it is it really in racquets? and maybe not enough so they made their racquets braids stiffer on purpose to simulate the added "power" of what their marketting for graphene supposed to be. in any case the last two techs, despite if real or not, seem to be gaining trust in a good racquet for the fans, coz they seem to be performing better than the first few ones, and I agree. The Flexpoint while visually true due to the obvious hole in the frame, its practicality or effectiveness may be in enough question to be deemed "gimmicky". Most Head fans want Twaron back. I take in mind that with any tech/material they add, the company may still change its specs and properties such as stiffness to make believe it works. Hard to tell if its really truly tech then. For me now, test them and judge your experience and performance with the racquet despite the tech in it, coz figuring out if its the tech or not, what matters is if its a good racquet for you or not.
@mplslawnguy33894 жыл бұрын
Don't believe the hype, your racket isn't outdated after 2 years. Golfers fall into the same trap, and spend way too much money on equipment. Yes, technology improves, but not enough to justify replacing expensive equipment every few years.

0:28 - Automatic thumb up. Mr. H, you are savage! BTW, In Mexico, i've seen recently grocery stores selling head cans. Penns are the go to for many guys, but i find them stiffer out of the can but last longer as opposed to wilson's heavy duty which feel softer, arm friendly but they last a match. However head balls are in between, softer than penn but they last longer than wilson.

Just bought the Speed Pro and really really love this racket. Played my whole life, but just now taking it more seriously at 40 and I don't know what I was thinking with the rackets I used to buy. I'm a bigger guy and I've always had oversize rackets that just produced too much power. I decided to buy more of a advanced players racket and man do I love the pinpoint control. Power is meaningless if you can't put the ball where you want it and this racket literally makes me excited to play the game again.

Head over grips are wonderful if you can keep your hands dry. I NEEDED wristbands for any more than one set of play cuz it felt so slippery/unpredictable. I was skeptical of the Wilson pros but you convinced me in your Wilson video of this same vein but i switched to the Wilson pro sensation for my rf97 and it was perfect. I can deal with the slight damp on the very end of the grip with the Wilson. It goes away within a point or two but the head over grips stayed damp a lot longer even with the holes in it.

Am Australian but have lived in Asia for a long time. Head products are really popular for a whole range of sports - all the racquet sport + skiing, and their bags (which are cheaper than wilson but of equal quality) and clothes are popular too. I haven't played with the latest penn or wilson balls but I grew up playing on the fast grass courts of western australia and I just couldn't stand any ball except slazenger balls. Next best was dunlop. Couldn't stand Penn or Wilson - especially Wilson balls - even on hard courts. Felt like hitting a rock and didn't even make the right sound off the strings.

Head Prime Overgrips has the Wilson Pro Overgrip feel but a bit thicker and longer lasting than the Wilsons. Wilson Pro, Yonex Supergrab and Head Prime feels quite similar. Head Prestige Pro overwraps feels quite similar too but as a wider profile much like the Tourna Tac XLs. Swapped out all the Head Hydrosorbs original grips the MPs to the Head Leather grips. My setups on the Prestige IG MP (18x20) and PRO (16x19) are all hybrids. VS 17g / Hawk Touch 18g and VS 16g / Hawk Touch 17g respectively. Can't move away from Natural Gut unless during the wet seasons I'll hybrid with Velocity MLT 17 / Lynx Tour 17 to get some feel but still maintain playability on heavier balls. Got the Head Team Tour Bag, a few Head T-shirts and shorts. Overall I find Head makes relatively good products, but so far I've only tried the few items that worked for my game and stuck to it ... try not fall into their marketing traps to get you to buy the new stuff when they are not really new tech. Eg. Graphene, Graphene XT, Graphene Touch, Graphene 360 or Graphene 360+ just prepreg layups Head manufacturing moves around the frame. Beyond the IG series, I personally feel its all marketing. Even the bags is the same bag, year after year just with new colorways. The bags do last so no point changing them unless you go matching stuff.

specs can be the same, but their molds are not, and the mold decides how it plays/feels/bends more than its specs. Back 15 years ago though, they were the same mold or so but different layups. Both have change since.

@@LuchoVena I’ve read all your replies and I’m amazed as too how knowledgeable you are on head rackets, I’m thinking of getting the new speed mp what are your thoughts and do you have any recommendations on a different racket in that weight range I should get?

@@charbelkarkour8193 Are you making a switch from another racquet that you like/dont like? if the Speed specs and mold/swing type/style is to your liking, then looking at the competition is another option. Since all are in the same range of specs, what you look for in difference is the difference feels each can give you. As far within Head, The **Radical** and the Speed are parallel frames of each other, the Speed is rounder (and perhaps more similar to older Radicals before Speed dropped) and the Radical more edgier (crispier feel) beam designs nowadays as it has been modernizing itself more to compete that growing beam market. In other brands, Wilson's current **Blade** mold is the closest (or a 98'' copy) of the classic Radical mold (was 95" before - like Prestiges but different neck, and even further back at their origins shared same mold!) In Babolat the **Pure Strike** also competes but mold wise is closest against the current Radicals (Crispy). If the **Pure Strike VS** (plusher) gets carried over, then that one is more control oriented than all above. In Tecnifibre, the **Tfight** lines, now **XTC**? (cant remember) crisp? **TF 40** (plusher) is more like the Strike VS. Yonex - **Core and Vcore** (Vcore, a nice combination of plush and crisp, is reaching over to the full player's racquet range tho, flexier than core) while the regular Core is a bit thicker beamed is still a very decent intermediate mid-control oriented as well. There are more mid-control oriented tweeners cant think about, but while at it may add for a twist in appetizers against the grain of all coz they are not as much as the others, the Head **Gravity** line (plush) - (think of bigger headed Prestiges - less damanding and forgivable, but rounder hooped - more like the firsts Speed iterations head shape) and the Wilson **Clash**, while a stiff design, results in plusher feel due to the carbon fiber weaving directions placed (not a technology, its a well known technique in the biz) fights less against itself while also retaining much crispyness. If you want to step out even further, the Pure Drive/Instinct/Ultra (not Ultra Tour), these will give you easier power and spin, but also lose control. if you want to liberate your swing to provide your own power and spin, then going up in the control will be the **Pro Staff** (stiff), **Vcore** (Crispy) and Prestige (Plush). **Prestige** being the more natural move up.

I like the gravity but not I’m not a huge fan of their rackets.
