In my view, she’s done plenty wrong, has embarrassed herself and the wta on many occasions… one of the reasons I love the wta though is because there is such variety now, and a lot of hungry players willing to go the extra mile, which Serena hasn’t done for a long time. And that’s why she won’t hit courts record, and imho she was fortunate to have beaten Graf. Had Graf stuck it out a few more years then she did, she probably would have gotten a fortunate path to a final and won a couple more too. Serena is a truly talented and certainly among the best players of all time, hands down. I’m just not a big fan of hers. But I’m a big fan of the new generation. My least favorite will always be the extreme grunters like sharapova, azarenka, Williams.

Karsten may have been 203 at the time but he was previously ranked in the 30s. His ranking plummeted because of an injury. Players don't really ever lose their skill. Andrea Petkovic made a final but her opponent was unable to play. Kim Clijsters stepped in. She had been retired for 2 or 3 years. Andrea was top ten.
