@KevinAlibert

Coastal cottage is the buggiest settlement, I have tried many time to repair it. the house it self is like 1.33 floor wide and 3.66 floor long making just getting the dimension correct a massive pain and I'm not even speaking about having a decent reroofing. then comes into play the fact that there is a lot of junk items under the floor making putting the structure in place impossible... I still need to give it a try again. I don't build over the houses I have my walls where they belong in the original buildings
@spejic1
@spejic1 4 жыл бұрын
@@KevinAlibert Even the mods that let you delete most things in settlements don't work on everything here. In my latest playthrough Preston forced me to attract settlers there, so I ended up leaving the houses alone and building a separate three story tower on stilts with a wraparound stairway. It looks nice, even if the settlers can't really navigate it.

My problem is that I have filled up places and could no longer do that side build-then-move thing because I have no more room and it would also try to grab other things. But I did OK with lots of concrete. Wish I could build a mansion and put it in my pocket to transport to the settlement I want to place it at. Tee hee hee. What are boats for!? I also want the pristine mint condition car and motorcycle in brain head's house in Nuke-World. I have plenty of Mr. Handy Fuel. That should work, right?

This is amazing. I just started playing Fallout 4 again on my Series X because it is 500x better with the performance increase and lack of load times. You have me excited to build here again.

So i started mission 1 and saved it and left this game for a while. Never knew you can BUILD in this game later on?? Is it primarily about building or you can make it like that? How frustrating is it to gather all the wood and doors and stuff? Or is it really easy to gather that? And can you like focus on other things besides buildings?
@pertyslick6171
@pertyslick6171 3 жыл бұрын
@@fuaddd The settlement building is extra. You can play the whole game and completely ignore it if you choose. Collecting the resources isn't too bad if you just remember to keep collecting all the junk along your travels and drop it off at your settlements. It gets even easier once you have all your settlements connected by trade routes so they share their materials. I get most of my base buildings materials from scrapping existing settlement structures or in bulk from local traders.

I can’t believe I’ve spent nearly an hour trying to fix the same flooring after I saw the house you decked out for MJ, and when I’ve just rewatched it, I realised even you couldn’t put the wood across the whole porch! I thought I was going mad, I tried all sorts of different ways of pillar glitching it! I think I’ll fill it with pot plants instead. Watching you definitely makes me more creative, I managed to put my fusion reactor in the metal shed in Sunshine, then I couldn’t get a door on the front, so I pillar glitched a door frame, added the door, then deleted the doorframe, leaving the door intact! 😊

What I love about these tips and lessons is that they are incredibly useful even when you do use mods. The settlement mods I use just removes the settlement size limits and allows for a (limited) building stuff outside the settlement boundaries, but the basic fitting/snapping and placement of things is still the same. Aside from that, all I have are some more items to build with. The basic mechanics are the same. Which order to place things, using adjacent placement to then place the piece you do want to place, the rug and pillar glithces, these tips have all been great. :)

Thank you so much for this; esp working out the dimensions. I took your idea and put a second storey on the basic cabin, turning the second storey into an L shape to the left as you face it. The bottom part is a rec area/food servery with a couple of dunnies at the outside back, tucked in between, the top floor is now a dorm for the farm workers. The unscrappable mattresses now serve as "emergency" beds for extra caravans or /cough/ packages for the railroad (headcanon, of course; this settlement is a Minuteman place in my current game). I used a bunch of half barn walls with the "greenhouse" windows on the top so everyone has a great view over to the broken highway.

Always so realistic. I hung three (concrete section) metal floor discs over my pool table that "hovered" above which I mounted my lights under. We can sacrifice gravity's rules on certain occasions. I built them with a sunken half wall concrete with a half wall on top of that to get the right height, then removed the verticals and hung the lights, THEN I placed the table centered under the whole thing. I never see that get used though, but I do see them at my bars.

Only one tile wide but enough for 2 beds , 2 chairs and a table. A lot ni er than the shack & mattresses. I've had an idea for some time that involves the concrete walls/structures to create a perimeter and then using the VaultTech parts to create living areas. Basically an above ground vault. Trouble is resources. I'd need a hell of a lot of metal and concrete to build it all.

Yes, definitely a second floor! If I expand on that house I'd do that too. Also the "porch" could conceivably become a floor for the entire settlement like I did at Graygarden: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmfRYmCGhKiIqK8

Recently began playing Fallout 4 for the first time. Watching your videos sold me on buying the DLC. Bethesda/Steam owes you a tip. Looking for the command to "group select" on a PC, but we'll get there. I've only been playing for a couple of weeks in my off time.

Thanks man. Yeah they owe me! Hehe. As for group-selecting on a PC, try holding down [E].

@@SkooledZone Hey, that worked. Here I was trying to find a combination of keys when all I needed to do was mash the button & hold it instead of just tapping it. Also went to your video on how to set mines for dummies like myself. Thanks. Your channel is definitely helping & it is great because it isn't heavy with spoilers for someone like myself who is approaching the game as brand new.

I used to do things like this a lot. I have since downloaded place anywhere mod and have no regrets. Best mod for building imo. :)

Watching these makes me so glad I have the Scrap Everything mod. I just scrap that old house and I do build a barn, but brand new. I love the barns, those are probably my most built structure. Always loved old barns and New England needs some, even in the post acopalypse.

Gonna have to go back through your videos. This is the first I've seen. Just started F4 back up after years and decided I'd actually put some effort into settlements for once and not just do the main quest.

Can we do something about the twigs sticking out on the floor, like the ones you can see on 17:43? They're a huge pain in the butt to hide, specially in Red Rocket truck stop.

Great Job at Sunshine Tidings. Those tiny shacks are notoriously dilapidated. Difficult to make nice 👍🏼

Let me suggest an easier way to put in the scaffolding on the front porch. As you know the scaffolding will snap to the scaffolding frames. The square scaffolding frames also snap to the cement floor/foundations. Remove the center floor foundation and replace it with the square scaffolding frame. Snap the sloped scaffolding to the square frame. Remove the square scaffolding frame and put back the cement floor foundation. No need for precise manual alignment. The scaffolding will be perfectly placed using the game's snapping.

I would like to see what you did for Hangman’s alley. I want to make it my main base and main trade hub for my survival play through and am finding it difficult due to the size of the location and the unmovable items.

I'm glad to see someone play Fallout 4 in late 2020. Awesome!! ❤️ I'm still playing. Love it! I enjoy workshop! In fact, I played 3 to 5 hours per settlement!!! 😅 Of course, I played with mods. Only unlimited building and unlimited supplies. 😁 So simple and use workshop DLCs, creation clubs and base game.
