It's wonderful to watch your sketch come to life! I watched it a few times just for the pleasure of it :) i agree with the reviewer about how your commentary really adds to the process. It's also really wonderful to see your city in action - very different from Nova Scotia. Thanks for sharing it with us!

I bought a Jinhao x750 and the zebra nib. I've been too nervous to put them together so I am just using the Jinhao the way it came. It's my first fountain pen and it's an experience using one. Someday, I will put the zebra nib on it, but I am waiting before I have to deal with sharpness of point before I do. But it was such a great bargain on eBay. Your sketching and painting are wonderful - thanks for posting this.

+Laura Lu Thanks. It's tricky to put the Zebra nib on. Be sure to read the instructions on my blog at www.parkablogs.com/content/how-use-zebra-g-nib-fountain-pen

so beautiful again. may i ask how many sketchbooks do you use parallel. it feels like you are always painting in diffrent sketchbooks. ^_^ do you have a favourite one? iam stll seraching for the perfect sketchbook but i don´t find one so i started to bind my own sketchbooks with my favourite watercolor papers. and the fountainpen is made for waterproof ink or something? i always destroy my foutain pens when i fill them with waterproof ink :(

+iraville I usually use one or two sketchbooks at the same time, but I will focus on one. I don't draw everyday so it will take a long time to complete a sketchbook. The last few sketchbooks, e.g. The Perfect Sketchbook and Moleskine, were used for a few months before I could fill them. Now I'm starting with this new main sketchbook of 80 pages. One of my favourite sketchbooks will be the watercolour sketchbook by Global Art Materials. I know many artists who use that too for watercolour. It's good for watercolour. See www.parkablogs.com/picture/review-watercolor-sketchbook-200gsm-global-art-materials The other watercolour sketchbook that's quite good is the 300GSM Pentalic watercolour journal that uses 100% cotton. Not too expensive but quite good. However, I still prefer the Global Art Materials one. www.parkablogs.com/picture/review-pentallic-100-cotton-watercolor-sketchbook-journal-300gsm Check out all the sketchbooks I've reviewed at www.parkablogs.com/tags/sketchbooks-drawing For waterproof black ink, I use Noodler's Bulletproof Black, Platinum Carbon ink and Sailor Kiwa Guro. Noodler's is good and value for money. These three are safe for fountain pens. But I advise to wash the pen every month. Usually when I use Noodlers ink, I don't wash my pen. You can use this page to compare the inks. www.parkablogs.com/node/11327

+Teoh Yi Chie thank you!! i will look for the sketchbooks in art supplies stores in munich and in online stores they look really good on your blog. but i already searched for this noodlers ink and its really difficult to get here in Germany :(
@teohyc
@teohyc 9 жыл бұрын
+iraville Those sketchbooks are from US companies so they may be difficult to find overseas. I'm not sure if you can find Strathmore sketchbooks in Germany. The Strathmore 500 series 100% cotton hardcover sketchbook is good, but does not open totally flat. As for Noodler's ink, it's also from US and not commonly sold outside. Another ink to check out is the Platinum Carbon Ink which can be bought on eBay. You can also read this review for another artist's perspective. www.ninajohansson.se/2012/01/about-ink-and-a-thank-you/ The thing with Platinum Carbon Ink and Sailor Kiwa Guro is you should clean the pens maybe once a month. That's what I will do.

What a pro that's crazy no horizon line, establishing back/mid/fore ground or lining buildings up to vanishing point. do you just approach it like a line drawing? or did you do a sketch? can I ask
@teohyc
@teohyc 9 жыл бұрын
+HarryT eighty6 It is a line drawing and a sketch at the same time. I approach it like how I would draw any other subject, still life, people or outdoor scenes, you pay attention to the proportions and relationship of lines and shapes. These principles are mentioned in my other video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooPJkmyGltljgrM

Really awesome sketch. I love the reflections in the water! May I ask what ink you used? I have a hard time finding a fountain pen ink that doesn't muddy up my watercolor paintings...
@teohyc

+Thomas S. Thanks. I use Platinum Carbon Ink for this piece. You can also use Sailor Kiwa Guro ink, or Noodlers Bulletproof Black. I usually go for Noodlers. Note that there are other ink colours from Noodlers that are not waterproof.
