Although our Falcon piggyback shocks are designed to take a beating with their nearly indestructible hard anodized 6061-T6 aluminum construction, we offer bolt-on JK Falcon Heavy-Duty Rear Shock Skid Plates to give the serious off-roader that extra peace-of-mind when leaving civilization behind.
These heavy-duty rear shock skid plates for the JK and JKU are constructed from 1/4” cold rolled steel. Unlike our standard JK Falcon Rear Shock Skid Plates, we left our heavy-duty shock skid plates raw for JK owners who want to weld them on for more strength (welding not required). As with the mounting hardware on our Falcon shocks, the rear shock skid plates’ Eco-Guard mounting hardware has survived the 1,000-hour salt spray corrosion test.

• Requires cutting of stock lower shock mount.
• Mounting at Level 2 or Level 3 may affect overall rear axle travel, which could cause the axle to droop further, which could cause the spring to fall out of place.

So I just installed these on my 2013 Unlimited Rubicon. Running 17” AEV Pintler with Goodyear Duratracs. The outside part of the skid makes contact with the inner sidewall of my tires. I’ll contact teraflex tomorrow with pictures. I’ll grind off part of the skid plate until my tire clears.

How did they respond? What offset are those pintler wheels?

What did Teraflex say or do ? I put these on my 2016 JKU with stock tires/wheels same problem. Not very good engineering and lack of any mention of possible clearance issues ! 😡

Sorry guys, there is a Caution clause in the main instructions that says you must have 4.5" or less of total backspacing to clear these skid plates. We will get that added to the main notes page as well. Thanks for catching that.

TeraFlexSuspensions , The problem is that there wasn’t any mention of a clearance problem and now that I have cut off my stock lower shock mounts I’m kinda SCREWED ! I also see that these skid plates have been discontinued ! That says something ! I’m looking for suggestions on solving this problem !

Do these work with any shock type or only the falcons? They seem pretty stout and at 1/4 inch, looking to pick up a set.

Since August of 2020 all falcon shocks are sent with the rear bolt pre installed and requires you to press and install a new bushing with this skid plate.... Would have been nice to know I'd be spending even more after buying the 3.3s and heavy skids. Yay more down time :/
