Three years ago I spent the summer listening to Terrence. I get it! I know how much good stuff is in the body of work and I appreciate the heck out of your efforts! I enjoy these and would never be able to find them. Listening to Terrence made me smarter, actually! He rearranged my neurons so that I could finally say Bullshit when necessary, with confidence! Thank you, I really get it!

No doubt Terrance was funny. But let us not underestimate what sounds like the same dude in the background of multiple Terence clips, whose guffaws not only guarantee the joke lands, but elevates at least my own levels of enjoyment throughout the many hours spent with Terence in this virtual format. I sense he’d be a great wingman.

Terence was a funny nasally voiced academic down to earth guy with big round glasses. But Terence initiated a sexual relationship with his interpreter Ev in The Amazon. XD

The funniest thing I heard him say was when he was talking about how unpredictable life can be. He said if you go this way you could be homeless but if you go the other way you could be banging madonna 😂😂😂😂

Life can be really predictable if you are continuously aware of what you focus on.

Terences tendrils run deep..a few days ago I as cycling along a country road when a local guy popped out of a hedge just in front of me...i made a quip about hunting for mushrooms and recommending he wait for rain...within minutes we were talking about Terrence and the stoned ape hypothesis..Thanks to Peter for spreading the word!

@Heloise O'Byrne They are the self transforming machine elf adorations which seem a common theme in trips involving Tryptamine alkaloids. Terence believed language is the material manifestation of energy, that the vibration of the universe its self was raw language, that language was a tool used by alchemists of legend to create matter, and that it along with time was responsible for the existence of DNA, or something like that. Anyway, these elves speak that language, to many peoples realization, when taking tryptamines. If anyone could turn crapp into gold in the last thousand years, it was Terence..
@MichaelOfRohan2 жыл бұрын
@Heloise O'Byrne there is a lot of stardom around True Halucinations, though I recommend watching Happy Plants' movie rather than going straight to the book, then watch all the trialogues to get a more grounded and critical representation of this thing. Im reluctant to recommend text from Terence, because hes a much better bard than poet, though I strongly suggest the books which terence enjoyed, including A Brave New World, all Aldous Huxley's writings, the old books that started his fascination with the arcane. By the way, you can emulate DOS and download Timewave software from Archive websites if you want to play with his personal tool for predicting novelty, buy his daughters butterfly book, and remember, 5 DRIED GRAMS ;)
@MichaelOfRohan2 жыл бұрын
@Heloise O'Byrne now that I can relate to. If its commonality in a judgemental world you seek, ive found the answer nowhere else than in myself. We need to get something from it. If youre at a dinner party, make sure to at least enjoy the food, if nothing else interests you, you shouldnt be there. This would much more align with the later years of mckennas life, when he started to question what it all really meant. "Don't be afraid to go it alone." Before it even happens we ask, why did I do that? Why would I think that was the right think to do? Is the expectation worthy and real? What implications did that action have? What punnishment or reward awaits things like that? You are a human, so unfortunately, when you gather with humans, you are accountable for them as much as they are accountable for you. Dont look at it as trying to please everyone, look at it as the people at the dinner party expect bold difference regardless of the source because all ego brings something to the table for a hungry cannibalistic society. Let them feed. Let karma play. Its fascinating to watch when you really get in tune with whats going on between people today. You dont have to impress anyone, because everyones already dying to impress you. damn if breaking the limbs of social expectation isnt fun.

@tpstrat142 жыл бұрын
After listening to hundreds of hours of Terrence I still can’t tell for certain whether his story was a tragedy or comedy. He said near the end that he wished he had been kinder to others. That’s no light statement. In fact, that’s just about as heavy a regret as it gets. And when I think about it, I can imagine him being gruff and unfeeling at times. A brilliant mind, no doubt, but was he lost in it to his own detriment? I just hope he had become gentle enough to have had someone by his side in his final moments. Because in the end, musings about how strange reality is only goes so far. Love takes you the rest of the way

I think he had fun with it while it lasted, I wouldn't call it a tragedy. It's a bummer he died so young though, but life's impermanence was something he spoke of multiple times and it happens. He was a smart, funny guy and is missed.
