People like Ram Dass, Alan Watts & Terence McKenna really paved the way as psychedelic pioneers, it's amazing how these philosophers articulated such profound ideas in such different times +30yrs ago. Terence McKenna learned so much from ayahuasca over the years and was one of the first to document it's brewing process in the 70's. We miss him

When I was about seven I was on a camping trip and my sister and I and a couple kids we were messing around with got chased by a member of the campground staff out of this giant culvert we were exploring, and ran into the woods to get away because we were afraid he’d get us in trouble with our parents. So the five of us were running through the woods and we suddenly came around a corner and almost stepped on a couple hippies, probably early twenties, guy and a girl dressed like they were from the circus. They were very surprised and generally gave off a weird vibe, I soon concluded that they were drunk, although we saw no beverages. Anyways, they weren’t threatening and started chasing us and laughing hysterically. We weren’t scared, just sort of ran because they’d spontaneously joined the fun. We went down the little trail and ended up on the beach and the girl finally caught up to and tackled one of the kids we were with and started squirming around hugging him and laughing hysterically. Then she let him go and they staggered back into the woods. I remember us being a little let down that these unusually playful adults had decided to returned to their picnic, and I wondered why no one else I’d seen drunk had been that much fun, or been willing to sort of violate the unspoken rule about not joining in kids games or tackling kids you don’t know. Took us about ten years to realize they were definitely on mushrooms or acid. And this was right outside Yachats Oregon, something of a psychedelic outpost on the Oregon coast.

I'm sending this to my therapist.
@yuriination2 жыл бұрын
@The Duke thats a rather immature and irresponsible attitude. Mushrooms alone are not "therapy". Certainly not for everyone. And I want ACTUAL , educated, trained, responsible, therapists to hear these lectures and start accepting them being brought into mainstream psychology because people need them for support and a safe space to help integrate what the mushroom tells them. There are different types of folks other than psychonauts, you know. Regular people who are not involved in any "scene"... straight as an arrow types, that are suffering with depression, PTSD, drug and alcohol addiction.... they deserve help, too. Not everyone can go trapesing off into cow fields to hunt for mushrooms then just go home and blow their own mind all by themselves and be healed. There is A LOT involved in learning and understanding the different strains and potency and dosages.. And its not like there's a Shaman in every neighborhood. A therapist is one of the closest equivalents to a Shaman, in the capacity to help guide, interpret, and integrate trips. Without proper integration of what you're learning its just temporary escapism, like anything else. The only difference being mushrooms are one of the most safe substances out there. So, as far as just using them casually, that's fine. It sure beats alcohol and other pills. But are you trained in human psychology? Do you understand how all mental illnesses work? I can confidently tell you are not if you think the mushroom is all the therapist you need. Not if you're using them to actually do the hard work to heal. You're not cooler or more together than anybody else just because you use mushrooms. Psychedelics and Psychedelic culture can easily be just another ego trap. If you think you're "more evolved", and you're not respecting other people's paths or that they have different needs or perspectives than you, that's you clue that youre in an ego trap. You're not respecting the mushroom or what it teaches. This is medicine but it's not a cure all by itself. If you truly believe that then you arent seeing anything passed your own nose.

@yuriination2 жыл бұрын
This is one of the tools used to spread propaganda in the information wars. This is why its so important to spread memes to counter that mental manipulation. Not condemning the others but teaching how we are connected and all these lovely messages Terence is sharing in these lectures.

@Ben a meme isn't inherently bad, nor is propaganda - it's the idea being pushed that can be. If we want to promote a good message, we'd be fools to not embrace the use of memes.
@yuriination2 жыл бұрын
@@BozzleyOfficial what Matt said. If you were to listen to Terence's lecture about artists and shamanism you might understand the idea better. A little advice... when you don't understand an idea, just ask for clarification. There's no need to be condescending or abusive to others. Particularly those who you clearly show a common interest in. Curiosity is how we grow and learn.
@BozzleyOfficial2 жыл бұрын
@@chinaallthetime69 of course they aren’t “good or bad”. I never once made a claim about memes or propaganda. My point was meant to highlight the glaring potential pitfall in the logic that @yuriination used and that you seem to be endorsing as well: “Memes spread propaganda so we have to be sure to use them to combat that propaganda”. Do you not see how that’s just more propaganda? My point more specifically is, it’s self-defeating to say memes are used to spread propaganda and then in the same breath, advocate for the use of memes to spread your own ideas.. I’m not opposed to it but at least realize the glaring truth that all that is, is spreading your own propaganda. Unless of course you believe you’ll be spreading “truth” with them, in which case the only difference is, you now self-righteously believe your intentions are better than everyone else’s and you are more of an authority for truth than them. In short, It was the way yuriination worded it. Also, forgive me for being condescending, I just couldn’t help myself in the moment but see the humor in your comment, yuriination.

For me the main issue with explaining (even to yourself) the psychedelic experience is language, there just is not words to explain the weird timeless/extra dimensional mind space. While you are there it makes perfect sense, like a veil has been lifted from your mind, but as you come down, it gets harder and harder to explain the experience, even to yourself.

@HeDesends2 жыл бұрын
Make sure you're extremely tired before a day which means do not nap at all and it is preferable to do strenuous exercises before bed. Don't watch TV or play on your phone an hour before bed. Make sure the climate in your bedroom is to your liking so that way it will be easy for you to fall asleep. Make sure you have a window in your room and let the lights bleed in just a little bit not too bright but not complete darkness. Lie on your back and close your eyes don't move a muscle. Let your mind start to drift and every 3 to 5 minutes open your eyes and quickly glance around. do not move your head. Let your muscles relax as you slowly start to drift off but remember to not completely drift off and open your eyes every 3 to 5 minutes. In between opening your eyes if you're doing it correctly you should start to see clothes I'd visuals. They will get more intense as the ritual goes on. Eventually when you open your eyes if you have not fallen asleep already. You will be in sleep paralysis. People describe sleep paralysis as terrifying only because they go in to it fearful. It's all about setting do not be afraid of it just like if you go into a mushroom trip afraid of it it's going to terrify you. When you open your eyes you won't be able to move and you'll be at the peak of a 5 g mushroom trip. Take a look around your room. The photos and decoration on your wall will either be melting jumping around dancing or talking to each other. This will last for about 3 to 5 minutes so enjoy it while it lasts. Before it wears off close your eyes and you'll have the most intense close eyes visuals you will ever see. From here you can answer a lucid dream or astral project depending on your skill level. Good luck.
