"But then the way is lost, it's not clear which direction the flow should go, then there must be a new guiding image."
Terence McKenna on clearly speaking from the heart about what we know and understand.
Music: We Plants Are Happy Plants - Not Waiting For Anything
"To say what the world is in such a way that you convince everyone, and then we can get down to the business of living in that world. And history really is this process of trying to generate a guiding image that serves."

This man deserves a true and full length documentary, seriously. I hate the idea of capitalizing on his wisdom for the sake of any company or organization, but if there could be someway to pay tribute to his life, I'd love to see it on screen one day given to the masses.

I rarely disagree with Terence ... but to say you don't believe in conspiracy theories is somewhat absurd. To say there are no evil people is equally unbelievable imho. To think that some of the people with tremendous resources and power would never work together to consolidate and perpetuate that power is somewhat naive. Not to say we must give credence to every conspiracy theory out there! but to be discerning. I believe most people are good, but to even have the concept of good there must be evil. Maybe if Terence lived through 911 and the great covid reset he may have had a different opinion... Much love to him and may he rest in peace (even if I disagree on this point)

How is it that the further in “time” we get, the better the quality/content of Terrance we receive? I recall watching Terrance 4 fears ago on pretty bad quality audio recordings and that’s all that existed, now here we are in 2022, with hd quality audio and video of Terrance himself speaking arguably his most wise words. Anyone notice this?

I think it is the part which is not intentional in a way that he only carefully chooses words, i hear it more to be like swimming or surfing, in that we are not completely like machines but there is this place where we get synchronous with so called enviorment or task at hand, i suppose that is more in a feminine sense a realm of feeling that allows him or us for that matter to pull through vast "repositorium" of symbols and concepts that string together both dark and shiny pearls that resonate in our minds and leave a trace, and a 'fuild' technique that could be applied to other medium like art and a glimpse of what else is on the horizon of possible approaches & truths

I've finally found something I don't agree with Terrence on... would love to hear his take on our current world, as there are truly evil entities that oppress us
@technomage6736
@technomage6736 2 жыл бұрын
I am not oppressed, and if I am without realizing it, then I'm too busy personally growing and enjoying life and beautiful things to notice. Even those in power are lost beings; "forgive them for they know not what they do." The enlightenment of the world requires the enlightenment of individuals. Also it's important to recognize that, with the help of internet algorithms that feed you more of what you choose to focus your attention on, this "reality" of evil of which you speak is being amplified to seem more rampant and real than it actually is.

@@AutoSanchezMusic some degree of individual agency would be desirable, then. maybe experience could be shared via hippocampal unity, which may make segregated calls to other parts of mind, possibly using a dedicated cybernetic dynamic link library, to be interpreted by an individual, or at least parts of an individual.
@AaronLyons
@AaronLyons 2 жыл бұрын
@@AutoSanchezMusic there could be discourse on truth. What I imagine cognitive unity to look involves the complete ease of communication between all parties, no errors in translation so to speak. There would still be room to discourse, it would be a much more fruitful form of discourse. Two engineers might have similar theoretical knowledge because they're both educated on the truth, the theory, but how they theorise about creating something may be different in separation. While cocreating it these two ideas may merge naturally and become a better idea for creating. They may have two ideas which are adjacent to one another so don't merge easily, then thanks to cognitive unity, I.e. seamless communication, discourse, sharing of ideas, they would quickly be able to deduce which path forward is most logical. In the same way that, thanks to the mycelium networks beneath their surfaces, trees and plants communicate and cooperate with one another seamlessly. Although each has their own intentions and desires, and they have their sense of individuality, they still act as a cohesive community. They share resources. They act both in alignment with their own personal goals and the larger goals of the collective organism (I.e. the forest) To meditate on this sort of seamless unity and communication between humanity brings to mind many beautiful potential utopias. What Mckenna called clairparlence, which meant a heightened ability to communicate and understand ideas, results in both a reduction in friction and disagreement, both also a massive increase in productive and meaningful conversation. When the veil of separation (ego) lifts, one is left with nothing but truth, so like two engineers who know the language, know the theory, they can get to work playing with and building things out of the truth. It's been two years since I've had a truly powerful experience of this, but they're such healing, meaningful and significant experiences that you can't forget them. They're a glimpse into true connection. The walls finally down for a brief reprieve from the isolation we're all forced into due to the masks we're stuck behind.

Some conspiracists are so far away lost in this world, that maybe they find things that no one else would find out there. That's the optimistic imagination I have about them. I always wonder what would happen if these people would use psychedelics. Maybe they see other things because their imagination works differently, and should communicate about that instead. Or they would be overwhelmed and get lost even further in the abyss of mind.

I take issue now with the “there are no evil people” stance, which leads to a sick, nihilistic, relativistic, disempowering, foggy perception where people doing evil deeds are not condemned. It’s like an attempt not to be a person. We have to take up space in this world and even Terence admitted that without an ego, we wouldn’t know whose mouth to put food in. We have to take up space in this world which necessarily means fighting for our own well-being and upsetting other people.

I agree 100%, we have to play our roles in the game. but it also feels like in order to understand the system that we are a part of we can’t just throw our hands up when faced with delusional, unhealthy, damaging behavior and label it evil or bad as many people do. Instead we have to attempt to understand that behavior and how it arose in order to even begin pushing for the necessary changes

I don't believe in pure evil. Obviously things exist on a spectrum so if there are good people then there must also be bad people. But humans can't produce either of those things, only transfer and interpret that energy, not fully embody.

I definitely don't mean to say that evil is an absolute or any lofty philosophical thing like that. And I definitely don't mean to say that there aren't things in people's lives that lead to them doing evil deeds. I'm saying that our attitude of acceptance and understanding has gone too far. We are not Saddam Hussein's psychotherapist. I'm saying that you should condemn. You *must* condemn. You cannot just let evil run wild in the world. You still have to take forceful action to stop it. Opening your mind too much renders you at best impotent against malice and at worst vulnerable to manipulation by the malicious.
