I had read the life of St Thérèse of Avila since l was 19 years olds at the time l was myself to enter in religious life ..Unfortunately things wasn’t going well for me as l was expecting.I therefore left the couvent to pursue other dreams.Now l am burning the desire to enter my retreat l would to read this book again because l feel that GOD call me for something else rather than the pleasure of traveling to other countries.I know where l can get it I simply want to thank you for make me believe again that there’s something more precious than earthly pleasures.

I went to confession and the priest told me my sins were to great to be forgiven and that he was not going to grant me absolution. It was a horrible experience because i already struggle with despair and it took me a long time to find the strength to go make that confession. It has caused me months of torment and agony. It almost felt like i made a confession to a demon in the confessional and not a priest. It sounds like the confessors of st Theresa were blaspheming the holy spirt themselves by calling Jesus the devil and telling here to make obscene gestures at Jesus.

I've never ever heard of this happening to a person. Repent directly to God then. I repent all day long many days.

I’m sorry that happened to u. I struggle with going to confession too and get so much anxiety from it. Once u regain your strength I’d say go to a trusted priest, One whose mind u know (from his homilies) and seems to take has integrity , to confess again. I’d even suggest informing the Bishop that priest is under (even anonymously) of what he said to u. I’ll keep u in my prayers. May God help u

@@leejennifercorlewayres9193 Yes i pray for that priest because i know his soul is not in a good state as well. The ironic thing is, before i went to confession i had just read a message from the Pope talking to priests about how penitents are not to be refused absolution in the confessional and then i literally was being refused absolution after confessing my sins. I read a quote from a Pope, i don't remember which Pope it was, but he said- what greater sin could there be then killing Jesus who was innocent. Well the catechism of the catholic church teaches that all who sin are the authors of the death of Jesus. So anyone who has chosen to do wrong in their life is responsible for the death of Jesus. So the priest himself was in a state of blasphemy of the Holy Spirt who cant be forgiven unless he repents (if it was a priest because im not kidding when i say i left feeling like a made a confession to the devil). So I do my best to pray for him and his conversion as well. The catechism of trent teaches- no sin can be committed or even conceived which the church has not the power to forgive. There is no one however wicked and guilty that should not confidently hope for forgiveness provided he repents. The roman catechism teaches that-Gods mercy will be victorious over the worst of infidelities. Are the teaching of the church true or not? Or do we pick and choose which ones to follow at our convenience?

Hello. What is your question?
@davethesid89609 ай бұрын
Father, why would Jesus want Teresa to obey a sinful command?
@HeraldsoftheGospel_official9 ай бұрын
Hello, Dave. It is not that Jesus would want St. Teresa to obey a sinful command, but that He would want her to be obedient to her confessor. We know that the confessor was mistaken, and that this caused St. Teresa great pain, but we learn in the video that obedience was of utmost importance in the spiritual life of St. Teresa. She desired excellent confessors, but she was not always gifted with such. Hope this helps. God bless you.
@davethesid89609 ай бұрын
@@HeraldsoftheGospel_official Thank you for your answer. However, it is still somewhat unclear because you only have to be obedient until the other tells you to do sinful things, at which point you shouldn't obey them. And I think Teresa knew for certain that it was Jesus.
@HeraldsoftheGospel_official8 ай бұрын
You're right Dave. If the superior or confessor had asked her to do something sinful, like lying or killing or stealing, she should not have obeyed, nor would Jesus ask her to obey. But, in this video, the priest genuinely thought it was the devil and not Jesus who was appearing to St. Teresa. St. Teresa was quite certain that it was Jesus, but this certainty could not be absolute, but to some degree subjective. Jesus knew that the priest was not commanding sin in asking her to make the insulting gesture (it would not be a sin if it was to the devil). But, Jesus allowed her to make it to Him humbly to show that He was really Christ, and at the same time to teach her a lesson in humility. If it was at the time when Jesus was alive, then the situation would have been different. We would not have been dealing with an apparition (which after all can be subjetive, at least in theory, though St. Teresa was certain it was Jesus). In that case, she could not and would not have obeyed any superior on earth. Hope that makes sense.
