Sometimes I feel like I’m not clear. Teri was a sister in a longtime struggle for me. 33 years. I kept up with her illness, making note of her progress. She was definitely a hero. In my time I’ve only taken vitamins and herbs. I’ve done well and seen big improvements. And…the years keep on coming. I mark the day I first experienced symptoms, September 2, 1991. Why and how I keep going while others don’t do as well nags me some times, but I thank God for the good and the bad. Right now I have a nasty backache that has lingered for months but with the Lord’s help I’ll beat this too.

I am absolutely heartbroken and devastated to hear of the passing of my favorite actress of all time--Teri Garr. I have been a huge fan of her work for 50 years dating back to the movie, Young Frankenstein and her stints on the Sonny and Cher show. One of my favorite all-time movies is Oh, God. A movie that was perfectly cast. I have always had an enormous crush on her as well and looked forward to her great, and funny appearances on Letterman of which there were many. Here in Europe, we didn't get Letterman's show. But on some late night channel in Ireand, there it was. I had no idea who Letterman was. Terri was the guest, and there was a power outage or flooding in the studio or something, so they did the show upstairs in Dave's office. The segment ended with Dave cajoling Terri into taking a shower in his ensuite shower. "What is this weird show", I thought. I was hooked. RIP Terri.

David your thoughts are shared by everyone who watched Teri's films and her appearances on your show. She's one of the few public figures whose passing provoked genuine sadness in my heart. I had a surprise moment of closeness to Teri many years ago. I was driving west on Sunset Boulevard and happened to be the first car stopped at a red light at the intersection of Sunset Plaza Drive, when down that street came Teri driving a green Jaguar, and turned left (heading east) right in front of me and I got a good closeup look at her for a shining moment while our vehicles were just a few feet apart. She wasn't made up for t.v. but still looked beautiful, of course. Godspeed Teri.

She was beautiful, talented, great at everything, had a magnetic personality and an approachable aura, and nobody ever said anything bad about her, as far as I know. A guy I know once said she was one of the few beautiful female celebrities that seemed like actual "wife material." That's a huge compliment from a man. So many other showbiz women seemed from afar to be either divas, phonies, or someone dull-as-dishwater to actually talk to, once you got past the pretty face. Teri seemed to be the opposite of all those bad things. Loved her.
