Igor Butman's saxophone sounds like a voice. The song "Golden Sun Ray" is a great example. A good lesson.👍

Hey Jamie, looks like you're back playing the Better Sax tenor again. I'm guessin' you must really like it.

Just mixing it up at the moment. Yeah, I like it.

Thanks Jamie! Terminal vibrato- form the note then warm! That's how I think of it! xx

Great lesson, Mr Anderson. Thank you so much. I know extremal vibrato...it's Sidney Bechet - Petite Fleur...i think it's really extremal for that music period. Very like that music.

Is that a lick from Roland Kirk's "The Inflated Tear" at about 2:38? Why can't (or shouldn't) we use a flutist's vibrato--using the diaphragm? I'm kind of naturally inclined towards that, and it seems to work OK.
@GetYourSaxTogetherАй бұрын
Wow! Well spotted on The Inflated Tear. I’m impressed!! The flute style vibrato is really a vibrato of oscillating volume which isn’t as rich as a normal vibrato which maintains the full tone and varies pitch only.

@@GetYourSaxTogether Thanks for the compliment, and for the clarifying information! I'll buy you a coffee, which I've been meaning to do for a while now. Happy Holidays! And thanks for your excellent & inspiring work! I'd love to see you do a bit on Rahsaan and how he did the miraculous things he did.

It must be the best way to do vibrato. Coltrane did it.

Thanks for sharing this knowledge. Kirk Whalum is one of the legends I like his application of vibrato. I often wonder how he does it. Your video explains the process and how to do it. Thanks again.
