Despite Tails being depicted (in most cases, not saying this is one of them) as a sidekick, or sometimes the very definition of one, I absolutely love how Sonic in this animation treats him in more of a guiding-hand-holding way while still letting him help out where he can. In my eyes, what makes a great sidekick is the kind of person who always tries their hardest to have your back, and is willing to learn from their partner on how to improve, or can help them in a way that they couldn't accomplish alone. Also, TerminalMontage, you a real one for including that Monkey Ball easter egg (3:43). Thanks for that.

I don't know, to a degree I guess. Sonic is meant to characterized as a "hedgehog with an attitude" in that he actually mean to be pretty edgy and agressive in a hip and trendy way as oppose to Shadow's dark and serious way. And there's plenty of occurrences where Sonic has acted like a dickish douche bag, like in the ova he did scream shut up to tails. Even though he does care deeply about him. And I like that Personally, I'm not fan of sonic being overtly friendly and wholesome just for the sake of it. Character integrity and constitency is way better than short term wholesomeness.

This may be one of my favorite Sonic parody animations ever. I love how Sonic himself is depicted. It's the perfect blend of cool and playful, and having a calm confidence. Almost like Bugs Bunny if he had super speed. But he's also good at heart, and his interactions with Tails are great, especially with all of the "LUL SONIC HATES HIS FRIENDS" parodies that exist. Tails is also shown not just a tagalong burden, but he genuinely helps.

Sega was genius like that when they included Tails in Sonic 2. In many ways he was the perfect character for the younger sibling that's still learning: Does not need to really platform since he can fly, if he dies it does not take away from Sonic pool of 1ups and he can also help in both attack and in carrying Sonic around. I was the younger sibling and hell, I preferred playing with Tails.

I love how Terminal's videos evolved throughout the years. The slapstick got better and now just occasionally hinges on screeching and screaming; the whole animation and pacing got much better, production value as a whole; and the story itself gets more heart poured into it - not just mindless recap with jokes, but something more personal, like "how these people see it".
