I don't know, to a degree I guess. Sonic is meant to characterized as a "hedgehog with an attitude" in that he actually mean to be pretty edgy and agressive in a hip and trendy way as oppose to Shadow's dark and serious way. And there's plenty of occurrences where Sonic has acted like a dickish douche bag, like in the ova he did scream shut up to tails. Even though he does care deeply about him. And I like that Personally, I'm not fan of sonic being overtly friendly and wholesome just for the sake of it. Character integrity and constitency is way better than short term wholesomeness.

I love how the relationships are maintained in a very pure and pristine manner, but also the gags going between fast paced, fast character, slow movements and going for general character development. Or, well, character relationships. What I liked most was how the sign post gag used a very old rocket sound I recognized from, well, old Roblox. Despite Tails being depicted (in most cases, not saying this is one of them) as a sidekick, or sometimes the very definition of one, I absolutely love how Sonic in this animation treats him in more of a guiding-hand-holding way while still letting him help out where he can. In my eyes, what makes a great sidekick is the kind of person who always tries their hardest to have your back, and is willing to learn from their partner on how to improve, or can help them in a way that they couldn't accomplish alone. Also, TerminalMontage, you a real one for including that Monkey Ball easter egg (3:43). Thanks for that.
