Terminator 3: Ending

I like to imagine this ending not only allowed John to save the T-850 sent in 3, but also gave the resistance the opportunity to learn how to reprogram Terminators so that John could send the T-800 from T2 back to the past.

Yeah it's like the idea that Cyberdine was only able to make the terminators because the technology was sent back from the future and was recovered and reverse engineered. This could indeed be how John and the Resistence learned how to reprogram terminators because it was already done in the future (or past depending on how you think about it).

It basically did. Salvation was that sequel. Early in the war. Had it gotten a sequel it would have most likely resembled the War from the first 2 films a bit more.

One thing I never got in this game was how did this terminator learn how to speak like the Terminator from T2. He talks like this from beginning to end

This particular T-850 was built in the timeline created by the events of T2 around 2032. Skynet apparently knew about the T-800 sent from the original timeline 2029 to save John in 1995 and programmed the T-850 Model 101 to duplicate it's mannerisms to properly infiltrate Connor's base and terminate him when he least expected it. John was blinded by his affection for the T-800 "Uncle Bob" and thought that ALL Model 101 Terminators were like that lol. After his death his Wife detained and reprogrammed the T-850 to protect her and Connor from the T-X which had been sent to 2004 to terminate them as well as John's future senior staff before Judgement Day. The T-850 revealed his murder of future Connor to his past version. It can be reasonably assumed that John learned to be warry of the 800 Series and avoided his foretold death. In 2018 of this new timeline he viewed the Hybrid Marcus Wright as Skynet's latest attempt to get a Terminator close to him and kill him. He was somewhat right as Marcus inadvertently led Connor into a trap at Skynet Central in San Francisco. Skynet ambushed John with a prototype T-800 Model 101 and nearly succeeded in killing John. But Marcus overcame his programming and saved Connor's life at the cost of his own. John Connor was killed not once but 4 separate times in different timelines.

@@SHAMSHAM1090in the T2 directors cut, you learn that Skynet sets the terminators to “read only, not write”, so they can’t learn. They flip the switch on his cpu so he can now learn. It makes sense to assume that this John, or his wife Katherine, would’ve also flipped this switch before sending him back in time. Allowing him to learn. Which honestly probably makes the terminator a better fighter, or ‘killing machine’ as they like to say so much

Eh…it was just a nice nod is all. Maybe John reprogrammed the T-850 to learn more and added some of the things young John taught the T-800

Holy crap, I wish the movies picked up here. Terminator 4 would have been so much better if it was about John and the Arnie Terminator kicking Skynet's ass. or hell, Terminator 5 and Dark Fate. Fuck. I want a Dark Fate sequel with Arnie, Connor, the Mexican Chic and the Cyborg chic all out kicking Skynet ass. damn it man

I really do like to consider this canon since the timeline repeats so much this could very much be one of them for all we know this time around and maybe John hanged onto the T100 chip from T2 all the way to T3.

@@darkrisk6659 yeah I don't think the reaper series of machines were built with talking in mind so the resistance probably had to fabricate a way for the T850 to talk through it's new body.
