Honestly, the weirdest thing about this incredibly 2003 film is the fact that John Connor isn't proactive for 99% of the narrative. He's just running away. T2 established that his mom trained him for most of his life but in this film he's just like cowering from danger or complaining, while Claire Danes has all the cool proactive character development and action bits. She's like "actually" the real John Connor. How do you not use this film to show how John "becomes" someone believable as a leader? The ending is so good but the narrative direction of this film is just bafflingly stupid.

Tbf, his mom suffered the same fate John did in trying to behave like the world was ending; people thought he was crazy. It got his mom locked up, so he probably didnt want to end up like her. But yeah, wasn't good cinema by any stretch, watching him be miserable pre-judgement day

Terminator 3 is similar to the third films of Alien & Godfather. Good movies that get judged too harshly because the first two are all-time classics. These films are certainly not that, but that doesn't mean they are bad.

Back to the Future 3 got a similar kind of criticism for being a bit difference, but as far as I know most people now rank it just as high as the other two. BTTF 3 is definitely as good as the other two, and I think I like it more than the second one.

Alien 3 and Terminator 3 both have the issue of ruining the ending of the 2nd movie in the franchise. Alien 3 kills all the surviror of Aliens before the movie even start, except for Ripley, making it one of the most bitter and underwhelming intros to a sci-fi horror movie. Terminator 3 ruins Terminator 2's ending by killing Sarah (again, off-screen, and ruining John's caracter arc, making him a wuss who runs away from every kind of threat, which also destroys his arc from the previous film. T3 also ruins the ending of T2, where Sarah and John had completed their task and finally managed to destroy Skynet. Cameron is right: The first two Terminator movies had the entire story and had a satisfying ending. Making a third movie, just shits on the conclusion with a plot that feels like "Somehow Palpatine returned", and again, yeah... that's just underwhelming and bitter... Alien 3 and Terminator 3 aren't terrible movies, they are just unnecessary and they ruin the previous installments of their franchise.

The biggest thing missing from this movie and all other Terminator movies is Brad Fidel’s score. His vision in those scores made those first two movies work. If they ever do another movie that’s worth anything, somehow Brad needs to be a part of it.

I was fully on board with it until the magical self driving cars became a thing. I can suspend my disbelief for time traveling killer robots, but I draw the line at early 2000’s cars becoming fully autonomous because future nanotechnology just touches them.

@@davemccage7918 why? I mean, T3 is not the best (while T4 T5 T6 straight _can't_ be accepted into the storyline T1/T2 started and established, T3 is debatable, I'm more towards not accepting it into the storyline but at least it's got a chance and _maybe it could_ pass), but self driving cars are not one of my issues. I mean, it makes sense that the future advanced technology that T-X is equipped with could gain control over those vehicles and drive them remotely.

Firstly, I do love all the effort and time you put into your videos, many of which I generally agree with and enjoy. Though the newest one about the Terminator animated show on Netflix, I absolutely disagree with you on. That aside, I was wondering if you ever do off type movie comparisons and or breakdowns? The Silence of the Lambs movies, specifically the Red Dragon 2002 movie (I know it is not a series as such) was wondering if you would possibly compare this movie with one of my favorites in the genre, which is Manhunter from 1986 directed by my favorite director, Michael Mann? It stars William Petersen (CSI show), Dennis Farina and Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecktor. I think aside from the Silence of the Lambs, this is by far the best movie it the genre by far. I would absolutely love to see you take a crack at it and see your take, (since I am sure you never, ever have any other requests like this, I am sure you will get right on it. lmfao) My sincere best to you and yours, mate.... (that even sounds weird to me in my head, being a scrubby American who normally uses "bub", just wanted you to not have to look it up in google translate, ya big dope! I thought the cast did a pretty good job . Even Nick Stahl. I know many people don't like his performance, but I kinda appreciated his subdued, low-key, traumatized take on John Connor. That final 10min was a bold choice. A real gut-punch. Yes, it completely overturned the "no fate but what we make" philosophy of T2, but in doing so it showed the other side of the coin that is the question of Free Will/Determinism. It was more in line with the ending of the first film. Personally, I am a compatibilist so I do believe that free will is compatible with determinism - we have all the free will that's worth having . Not a great film, but not a total disaster either.

YOU DID T3 OMFGGGGGGGGGG. This is the one I was most hyped for. T3 is easily one of my favorite popcorn movies and I actually love the different model's lore of this timeline. So excited to dive-in! Edit: My brother in Christ, it was a T-800 in both The Terminator and T-2. I have no idea where you got T-100 from, haha.

Great as always Paul. I've always had mixed feelings about the 3rd movie, it was good but there were points I didn't like, such as killing off Sarah off camera. And it just didn't have the same vibe as the first one and two.

Also the "Model 101" is just the designated model number for Arnold's skin suit. The First Terminator is a T-800, the Second Terminator is a T-800, the third one is a T-850. Kyle talks about it in the first movie. "the 600 series had Rubber skin we spotted them easy, but these are new they look human!"

Great breakdown as always Paul. I also had an interesting theatre experience with this one. My girlfriend at the time kept asking questions throughout the entire film and I hated it at first because I utterly loathe people that talk during films. Of course, I'm not going to tell her that but 🤬. Once I got the DVD and re-watched it I really enjoyed myself. It is still one of my guilty pleasure sequels.

Well...I know it has armor upgrades and such too... I hope it's partially power cells cuz if the 800 had them sarah would have nuked the whole west coast when he got smashed... if that is true then I will own up to my own mistake.. I do know that the organic skin was a 101... the 100 was that guy that infiltrated the resistance bunker ( I right off hand can't remember the guys name, but it was Annie's body building buddy. I just know it's a bunch of metal and homegrown skin that I would really hate to have to tangle with

@@TN_T_ nah. T1 and T2 are the exact same model, T-800 (model 101, Arnold's skin/face look). Only T3 is T-850 (which is basically T-800 with some minor upgrades, so essentially still the same model) Also, regarding those power cells, it's unclear if T-800 had them, but I assume it did (just makes more sense to me). But anyways, the way I understood how it works with T-850 is they become kind of nuclear bombs only when they're exposed to the Sun/removed from the endoskeleton. So my assumption is if they're not removed from the endoskeleton, if the endoskeleton is destroyed they won't exlode. There's probably something else apart from heating that keeps them stable, maybe they're disarmed by some internal mechanisms and only get armed if they're removed from the main body. Also, this would explain why T1 and T2 T-800s didn't explode like nuclear bombs once destroyed (assuming they had those power cells).

I still love T1 and 2. T2 might be my favorite film. T3 was ok, but it didn't add to the lore well enough for me and took away from the "no fate but what we make" idea. Just my thoughts... even though I always love seeing Claire Daines.

Like the nod about the German voice actor for the German sync. Arnold was far too expensive and the actor Thomas Danneberg was so talented and did a remarkable job! He also spoke Travolta, Dan Aykroyd, Dennis Quaid, Terrence Hill aaaaand Sylvester Stallone...which was really funny in the German Expendables version. He was so talented that you wouldn't recognize it if you didn't know! Thomas Danneberg died September 2023. We are so lucky to have Arnold to "stick around" longer. I hope his "chopper" arrives not anytime soon... :)

Very underrated movie. Yes the script was not perfect like 1st or 2nd movie, but it was well done. I also liked Nick Stahl as JC, he made me believe that this can be the path John could take in future. People tend to change and question everything they were told in before. Visuals were exceptionally good, Third act shocked me when i was a kid, T-X was brilliant idea. My very favorite is 1st one, but i rewatch T3 occassionally

Crazy to think this movie is 21 years old!? T3 is a weird one, I think it's an OK but obviously inferior ending to a trilogy (but I don’t consider anything after T2 is canon, just a fun standalone film), and Kate Brewster and Terminatrix are both cool new characters.
