Can be hard to find a nice seat sometimes. A lot of people make the mistake of buying a seat with more padding, but really it's about how far apart your sitting bones are. A hard seat with the right width will be much more comfortable long term than a cushy seat that's too big for you. Glad you're enjoying the Joe! - jack

Great review (as always)! I bought a Joe p24 last year, been riding every day and I love it it's fast and smooth a true " urban warrior ". You can can put the handlebars in parallel with the frame for storage as well

That’s a really nice looking folding bike! I love the sound of the brake levers. It’s too bad there are so few folding bikes with full-size wheels available on the market! In direct comparison, I don’t see a lot of reasons to choose this over a Montague, though.

The reason I got this instead of a Montague folder is the fold itself. The Montague takes a lot longer to fold, isn't as compact, and has to have the front wheel removed. A heck of a lot more steps, and much larger package.

That is correct. A larger wheel rolls more smoothly and feels a bit more stable but it makes it so the bike cannot fold as small. A Brompton or 20" wheel Tern would be the way to go for the most compact fold. -Peter

That's right, larger wheels don't respond to quick handling as nicely and they are a bit heavier too. Then again, the ride is much smoother. There are always these tradeoffs. Thanks for watching! -Peter

I just bought this bike, been riding about 25k a day, so far I love it , great ride , fairly fast, smooth gears and brakes but seat is trash. Overall I love it , paid £500 in the UK.

After seeing the video review of this and the Montague Paratrooper Pro I think there really is no advantage to getting the Montague. This is an excellent bike, and I'll start putting a few $$$ on the side to start saving for it. Thanks for the convincing review.

We sell a pretty wide range of bikes. The lightest bikes we sell tend to be higher in price, like the Tern Verge X20 which only weighs 21 lbs, or the Titanium Brompton Bike which can be as light as 19.7 lbs. I prefer my Montague Navigator. Don't see a single advantage. I have Sora crank & dropbar on it. So, I can go for miles & miles on it with stronger frame & performance. And much much ligher!

I've been riding this bike for about a month kzbin.infoUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

I've done it. Choose a suspension fork that has 60mm-80mm travel only. Otherwise, it would be too long when you fold it and the rear wheel would be floating. It also screws up the geometry when you put 100mm and above. (Tried that too and I now have an extra fork lying in storage.) When riding, the wheel sits up front further and changes the steering dynamics. It also puts a bit more strain on the head tube, I reckon.

+kio wa I think NYCE don't want to say anything that isn't PC, given what they said in reply. The Joe p24 has a carrying weight limit of 115kg. I don't know Montagues but my amateur guess is theirs is higher and more robust, although it depends on the model. One important thing though is the folding system. The Joe can be folded and everything is in one piece, while the Montagues can be folded but you have to carry the front wheel separately. They are also heavier than the Joe. It's more troublesome to carry, and you'll get your hands dirty.

Bigger wheels means higher centrifugal force. More stability at higher speeds. Trouble is that you have a slower response time when dumbasses pull out in front of you on the road. Smaller tires, lower centrifugal force...and as near as I can tell...doesn't go as fast. You can definitely tell the difference between 26" and 27".

Hi. I'm between buying this bike and the Link P9 and I have a few questions, anyone with knowledge about bikes feel free to help me. So, first, I wanted to know how much of difference I will feel riding this bike in comparison with the Link P9 (because of the bigger wheels). ahm like.. I never had a folding bike before, so those tiny compatible bikes are new to me, this Joe p24 seems like the type of bike that I used to have. Another thing is, I pretend to buy the bike when I travel to the USA (NY), and, of course, I would need the bike to fit in the airplane without complications, IDK if I would have this problem with Joe P24, and with Link P9 seems that I wouldn't. Thanks in advice.

Good questions. The Joe will feel more like a full sized bike with its 26inch wheels, thicker tires, and 24 speeds. However it will not be a great bike for airplane travel as it only folds in half. I would go with the Tern Link P9. It has great parts, is light and fast and feels great to ride, and it folds small enough to fit in an airplane case. - Jack

OCL is used on t heir higher end bikes because it is stronger, but there's nothing bad about the FBL.

NYCeWheels Do you have Tern Joe P27? It has an OCL joint. I noticed that the max load for this one is only 105 kgs, while the P24 is a significant 115 kgs! Do you think the FBL Joint is the reason why this is so?

Hi Ryan, the Joe p24 that we have in stock is a medium frame and requires a minimum rider height of 5' 6". The Joe would not fit in the airporter as it has larger 26 inch wheels. I would check out the Tern Link P9 which would fit your height and would be able to fit in the airporter as well! Yes, the Joe bikes ride fantastically but you do trade off a bit in compactness and portability. Have you seen the Brompton bike? Actually rides just as well as the Joe in many respects and folds to about a quarter of its size - Jack

NYCeWheels i actually visited your shop 2 weeks ago. i tried a 24" tern and a 20" tern and decided to wait until my car lease ends in December to see if i can pick up a hatchback. i really liked the Tern bikes but i doubt i would get the Joe model.
