Congratulations on the win, you two! As I recall in your co-op runthrough of the base game, you could not get Mars oxygenated. I am glad to see it was not a problem this time :)

Two nights ago I had a dream that my house got leveled by a tornado and Ares Expedition: Crisis was the only game from my collection that survived. It’s also the only game currently on my shelf of shame. And now, coincidentally enough, here comes your playthrough. I think my brain and/or the universe is telling me to play it.

The crisis corporation Sharizen has an action that basically lets you trade one card with another player. So I don’t think you can just trade cards with each other throughout the game. Unless there is some other bonus I missed.

While watching this, I couldn't help wondering if allowing the crisis cards to hang around for a couple of turns might be a good idea. You had so much heat, that fixing the temperature seemed easy and would give you more TR, which you were struggling with. But I guess that would force you to play more action phases. I'll have to finally get it to the table to see how it works out!

Nice play through! When doing the standard actions are you not required to do the maximum amount possible? I.e if you have 16 heat you have to take the raise temperature action twice?

With the Crisis expansion, you are not required to spend your resources to raise the parameters. Thank you btw!

Makes sense, lets you build up resources for the later rounds when the crisis cards become more punishing. Can’t wait to get this to the table after watching your game. Keep up the good work guys :)

You should have given yourself 3 heat production because your corporation has a space tag on it as well. At the 30 minute mark.

Hey quick clarification, Monique kept the red Event card showing tags face up. I thought event cards went face down?

We played it this way because of this line from the rulebook - p. 5 "Red cards have effects that happen immediately and do not provide any additional impact after they are played, other than the tags they provide that can be referenced by other cards." Hope that makes sense/we are playing it correctly lol.

Does this expansion has handicap/difficulty adjustment settings?

Hi, you can make it easier by adding in "Tier 0" cards to allow more time to build up your engine.

In original TfM, only blue cards provide ongoing effects, but I noticed Monique's green card that gives heat production per space tag was getting triggered over and over again... is this correct?

In Ares expedition, that kind of production is updated when you gain and lose tags.

Yeah, makes you have to organize your cards so you can retroactively make those production updates.

42:30 you discarded your 5 cards but didn't pay the 14 mcr for the large space convoy

Ahh you’re right!! I think she mentioned having the MC but moved on to the 15 from the cards and forgot to circle around and pay the cubes.

Monique also didn’t use her corporation ability to remove a counter from the crisis when she played her expensive card and they spent 2 VP to deal with the crisis instead.
