Terrain Tamer, a household brand in Australia is now in South Africa. We have partnered up with them to do some "REAL" testing on their products in Africa, where the 4x4 driving traverses so many different types of terrain, which will be a true test of their durability and strength.
In this episode we head off to the infamous Tankwa Karoo to test out how the suspension handles all the different terrain. Long corrugated gravel roads, rocky climbs, mountain passes and much much more. The main differences we notice with the parabolic suspension and the smart coils are comfort, there seems to be nothing too tough for the suspension and the comfort levels are at an all time high in the donkey.
We ran our tyres particularly hard to really get a good feel for the suspension, average pressures were from 1.6bar initially to around 2.4bar, which is far far far too hard for corrugated roads, but still the suspension shines through a clear winner. We are running the 500-700kg constant load in the rear. The high performance brakes are literally mind blowing, the braking on a very heavy land cruiser has never been this sharp, i can equate it to a high performance vehicle like my wife's mini cooper, which react extremely well on such a light vehicle. Needless to say with a vehicle of 3200kg, i no longer have a braking issue, they are responsive and on demand and extremely good.
One part i definitely love about what i do is where i get to go and what i get to see during all of my adventures, the scenery in the Tankwa Karoo is simply breathe taking, so sit back relax and enjoy this adventure with us.
