Terrain Tamer, a household brand in Australia is now in South Africa. We have partnered up with them to do some "REAL" testing on their products in Africa, where the 4x4 driving traverses so many different types of terrain, which will be a true test of their durability and strength.
In this episode we kick off the installation with some amazing items which we are extremely excited about testing out in the wild parts of Africa. We Opted for the Parabolic suspension (500-700kg constant load), along with the high performance rear brake drums, brake shoes, heavy duty bearing kit as well as new seals and bushes for the sway bars.
Terrain Tamer being the meticulous brand they are don't just stop there, they literally start going through the Donkey with a fine tooth comb, as we pull things apart we find more and more problems that need to be repaired and need to replace more than just the suspension for testing.
From water ingestion in the bearings to worn out brakes we dig into it all, replacing what we need to get the Donkey turned into a stallion who is race ready.
Terrain Tamer ship from the head office in Cape Town to anywhere in Africa...

Gosh goes to show that checking your drivetrain every so often is very necessary. Can you imagine being at some far out place and your drivetrain fails. If I decide to go overland adventuring one day will definitely do the upgrades as you have done, no compromise!.

Hello Roland, thanks for your informative videos. I look at all of your posts, as well as those from the guys, Edward, 4 × 4ventures, etc. Africa has the magic that you are so passionate about. It is time that the pandemic finally passed and I could travel to Africa again. Greetings from Germany, maybe we will meet sometime. P.s I need sunglasses like in minute 7:30 :-).

Hey Peter, thanks so much for all the support, Africa is a wondrous place with so much to explore and see. You could spend a life time travelling it and never see enough. I am sure we will meet up one day when you are on the dark continent. LOL, those glasses you can get when you come to SA...

Dude, you going to love those parabolic leaves. You’ll probably have to rename the vehicle now....when I fitted mine on the 79 it transformed my bakkie.

Well the Donkey he will remain, but a Stallion he has become, hahahahaha. I tested it in Tankwa over the weekend and to say i am impressed is the worst understatement ever!!! They have transformed what i thought was a good ride into what i would now say is beyond silky, plush, smooth and "WHAT CORRUGATIONS"!!!

Great video esp with the parabolics available in SA. We ship a lot of 4x4 stuff to Kenya from SA. I am a follower of your adventures and I would like to Visit SA soon and hopefully meet you. However as a Doctor and surgeon I need to mention the Lack of Masks (+/- other COVID Protocols in this Video). Being Public figure, probably you have gotten the vaccine/ pre recording rappid testing of everyone in the video but it would be good to have a disclaimer as to the absence of one these so as to Promote an image of COVID Prevention measures. Again. Asante sana (thank you very much) for your great work Cc.@lionel's 1st comment

What is the weight of your vehicle? Would you say these spring are up to the job for a vehicle that is constantly loaded to its max GVM?
@MyLifeinAfrica
@MyLifeinAfrica 3 жыл бұрын
My vehicle not trip packed weighs in at +/- 3130kg, it's GVM is 3200kg, when packed I'm over GVM and these are doing a fantastic job, no sag in the rear at all, it absorbs bumps and corrugated roads like a dream and the ride is amazing both packed and unpacked... so yes I would say it would suit you fine 🤙🏻

How many km dit it do with the bearings is it necessary to do this every 20000km?
@MyLifeinAfrica
@MyLifeinAfrica 3 жыл бұрын
It's definitely advisable to check them at least every 20000km, but this of course is based on the abuse you put your rig through. This will differ from vehicle to vehicle. My bearings were a few wet trips and many km through tough terrain in. If I had to guess they were about 30 000km old...

Another great video from the guys at Terrain Tamer. Can't help but notice again(as from another vlog) the complete lack of adherence to COVID protocols like - No masks being worn or social distancing exercised.
