Glad to see your vehicle back in action. I’ve just installed an Ironman suspension kit in my land cruiser 200 and found it to be even more harsh than the standard suspension. Secondly the nose is still much lower than the rear. Very frustrating to spend that kind of money and not have it feel good.

I really need those springs but for my rear suspension. My car (again, Hyundai H-1) has springs at the back but they don't seem to handle the full weight very well. Something like that for the back would be really great. Handles well when empty and handles just as well when fully packed ( packed all the way to the car "ceiling" type of fully packed. Rear view mirror useless type of fully packed)

Amazing video guys , do you know if air bags are compatible with the parabolic springs
@RoamOverlanding3 жыл бұрын
I dont see why not; but the concept of an airbag is counter intuitive to parabolics for me personally, because the parabolics have such great flex, that an airbag would be limiting alot of the downward travel. But if you're really pushing load carrying capacity just rather uprate your leafspring than go airbags in my opinion; but I've never used airbags so what would I know :D

In the video you describe the smart coils as being the 50 to 100kg model, but I notice it's actually the 100kg+ model that you fit. How have they gone for you? I.e. if you were doing it again would have gone with the same, or a lower spring rate? Is your winch cable or dyneema rope?
@RoamOverlanding2 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaron; TT initially gave the 100+ which would have been fine if I had the 2.8; however the 2.4 is actually 60kg’s lighter than the 2.8, so we ended up changing to the 50-100 which is now is pretty close to perfect 👌🏻 the winch is a steel cable but I do want to change it at some point

Terrain Tamer looks good! ...BUT - what happened to the FOX suspension?? FOX is a big name and certainly not the cheapest on the block! I get the Terrain Tamer concept for the leaf-springs, but what was "wrong" with the FOX system in the front? Suposedly it can be adjusted to EXACTLY what you need...?
@RoamOverlanding3 жыл бұрын
Well, fox and I decided to go our seperate ways, and terrain tamer stepped in as a new product partner for the show. Nothing was wrong with the fox, except the fact we couldn’t get the right front coil’s to suit the vehicle properly, it drove a bit skittish upfront or way too soft
@thjakits3 жыл бұрын
@@RoamOverlanding - ....I thought something like this might have happened... Looking back at the Fox installation video - I saw Eibach springs go onthe Fox shock-strut. Would Terrain Tamer springs fit the Fox shock-strut?? ...just as a follow on question for those that run Fox and/or chose Fox because they followed you... I have a 2012 Amarok with a 2" HD-ARB in the front - not the best solution anymore - so very interested in alternatives - Fox is present regionally.... Terrain Tamer seems to be a SA company (NO idea if they are in Central America).... Are the rear parabolics that much better than the Fox pack?? I put the ARB HD pack on the Amarok (MY fault ordering the wrong thing - these are 400+ kg springs, but I do not have that added load...) and it was impossible to drive. I took out the overload spring and it became slightly less worse... Final solution was to put back in the OEM HD pack (5 leafs) and a set of air-bags!! Best of all!!
@RoamOverlanding3 жыл бұрын
@@thjakits Terrain tamer is an Australian company; however they have Soouth African distribution. Fox didnt make any of their own springs or leafs. I bought a set of EFS leafsprings to go with it. The parabolics are quite unique and offer a really nice balance of performance and comfort. The 300kg Parabolics would probably be perfect for the amarok and the smart coils are definitely better than the eiibach ones on my vehicle.

its a 40mm; but we realised the coils that arrived for the front were the ones for 100kg+ not the 50-100; so I think its just sitting abit proud up front! The new coils will go in on friday; I cant believe how nicely its driving already; so cant imagine once we get that sorted! haha!

When does it get to the point where the cv axels and rear differential are to weak to support the weight and power to handle all the upgrades. Cause and effect comes into play and snapping an axel or cv is the last thing you want out in the bonduk

Fox is still good; but im currently leaning more towards the terrain tamer setup as a complete package, with coils and shocks. The ride really is amazing, and well worth looking into. The fact that you can just call someone up and get the full install done without having to mix and match coils and leafsprings is amazing.

Also interested? Fox meant to be the best, priced as the best, there were never any videos saying that is wasent the best ride best flex etx? Was there something wrong with the fox product or is this just aggressive terrain tamer sponsorship? . They have a great aussie product but are working hard to gain market share in sa, and seem to be handing the stuff out to any one with a certain following. I love terrain tamer stuff, but im so over sponsored reviews. KZbin and Instagram is full of it.

Fox pull out of the show during the 3 months the vehicle was inactive getting repaired, we came to an agreement to remove the suspension and go our separate ways. It was a great setup for sure. Terrain Tamer offered to help me out in a difficult situation where I had no suspension in the vehicle; this is not a cheap kit . So far I am INCREDIBLY happy with it and all the support I have gotten from TT. Only time will tell how the kit will handle a FULLY laden vehicle and some tough trails; lets see how it goes. As we speak I am getting ready to leave for an epic journey; so hopefully sooner rather than later, I will giving you feedback on the new setup.
