Terraria Skyblock but it's JUST Shimmer?? | Shimmering Skies Part 1

Shimmering Skies: a Skyblock map where I took 17 hours to get what most players get in the first 30 seconds.
As a noob who's barely played since 2014, I'm really excited to dive back into Terraria again with this crazy challenge. I may not know much, but with the Terraria wiki as my new best friend, I'm hoping we'll get to find out just what it takes to beat the Moonlord in this Skyblock challenge.

I got sent your way by a mutual friend, and speaking as someone who's watched an almost embarrassing amount of youtube LP content, I'm really impressed with this. Highly edited content about a niche of a niche of gaming is always a welcome sight, and you strike a great balance of being funny, informative, and concise. I love gameplay like this (and I’d love to see you do more of it). Having a goal and then learning and abusing fame mechanics to get there out of next to nothing is just so much fun. Even while watching I came up with several potential ways of progressing (most of which either wouldn’t have worked or would’ve been slower than is necessary) and even learned some things (it’s kind of sad how potions give a randomly reduced amount of materials back when shimmered, even though I understand why)

Potions were the initial way I had thought to solve it, but it turns out you'd need to kill several thousand slimes for a decent chance at getting enough sand

When I was playtesting the map, I assumed that it was best to farm for a weapon before doing anything else because the copper shortsword is so painful to use. It could be argued that farming for eskimo armor is worth spending some time on the surface, but probably not. Going straight to farming cavern enemies in the underground layer has much better odds of dropping a weapon like a bat bat or yo yo. The skeleton merchant's sold weapons are also good choices. However, while timing each major task... and having horrible luck, I found out that the absolute best strategy to save time is to only farm long enough to get a skeleton merchant to spawn and buy rope. If you can get a weapon great, otherwise, immediately give up and go straight to hell. The mimics will grant mobility accessories and weapons reliably quickly, and when you do get that magic payout, it provides all the dirt and sand you need at once.

Nice. Just as a tip/note, you could have saved yourself a bit of time with the copper ore had you shimmered your shortsword down. I'm tempted to tackle this playthrough myself now, so maybe I'll hold off on the next installment, but this was a great video!

Oh cool i didnt know this one was out there. i played on another one sky shimmer i think it was called a while ago, it was pretty fun minus the tossing my tools in to the shimmer then yeeting myself off the edge of my platform to respawn with new tools to toss back in to the shimmer lol. I look forward to see your progress.

About first 10 minute I been sitting here almost losing brain cell. Because you could've shimmer torches to get Wood. The most useful item in the early game.

Don't let all those braincells die before checking the wiki, shimmering torches doesn't work. It did when shimmer was first added, but they removed it. Any kind of torches just become Aether torches now.
