Hi friends, Author of OreExcavator here. We're currently working on a side project called "Land Looping" which does exactly this with a bit of extra polish and shine I see folks yearning for in the comments. It's a bit of smoke and mirrors, adjustments to AI pathfinding and choice making, and some other small tweaks. But the effect is a pretty seamless transition over world borders. No camera shifting, no fades to black, no jank. Doesn't even change anything about your world so world size, complexity, mod biomes, etc. have no impact on the mod. Even shows blocks on the other side. Complete with liquid cross-flow, wires, and being able to place blocks between sides. This even includes corruption/crimson spread if you're that unlucky! ;) AI and bosses even take this into account when locked onto a player. For example a boss will no longer despawn when crossing the "borders" to the other side of the world. Our only issue is that while borders reflect tiles, they do not reflect enemies as of yet among a few other issues. Before you ask, yes it's multiplayer compatible, mod compatible, probably won't be released until tML hits 1.4.4 release, and we are looking for potential testers! If this really sounds interesting to anyone - reach out!

I really like that idea! Even if the transition isn't the smoothest, it is really cool! Some mods could use that idea, paired with the subworld library mod and make an entire bottomless ocean (or giant sulphurous island) with both side of the screen teleporting to each ocean of your main world!
@Cramslor Жыл бұрын
Now all we need is a mod that transfers your character to a new terraria world after leaving the edge. Like imagine you're just running along, going through the jungle, and you reach the ocean. You get to the other side, run onto the land, and you just see ANOTHER jungle! You quickly realize this is a completely different world. That would genuinely be crazy if it was real!

This wouldn’t really make sense in game lore as each world is an island So it’d be more like, traveling left or right goes to different worlds, but you don’t need to go to the main menu Of course to simulate an ocean, you could just have one of the worlds in between two islands be entirely water this would be quite interesting for a mod...
@Mihe4770 Жыл бұрын
There is a sun, moon and stars (at night) which implies the world is bigger than an island. Given there are visible stars at night, we can at the very least say that the world is galactic in size with a cluster of stars. Also the fact that the sun sets in the horizon suggests that the world isn't flat either. We are just viewing the world from game restrictions, not lore implications.

One thing I always thought would be perfect for Terraria is a Noita-Like world loop, where at the other end of the ocean is a mirrored version of your world. It wouldn't have anything you built, but would keep everything you've unlocked like the dungeon or chlorophyte. It would also 'reload' any natural chest spawns, basically giving you another chance at getting rare chest drops without having to make an entire new world! The other main difference could be that ore and corruption are switched as well! The best way to explain it would be that if your 'main' world is Crimson with Iron and Mythril, the 'mirror' world would have Corruption with Lead and Orichalcum. It would keep going practically infinitely, switching ores and corruption each time, but if you use a recall potion (or, y'know, die), it would send you back to your Main world, no matter where you set your spawn point in the Mirrored worlds.

It would also be neat to get vertical looping. I've wanted to see an "underside" biome, where it resembles playing with reversed gravity, with the ground above you and an empty sky below you. Ideally, Hell/The Underworld would actually be at the center of the map, and going deeper would gradually reverse the biomes going through a cavern and underground layer until you reach the underside "surface". Falling off of the underside would loop you back around to the top of the "overside". While it would be hard to reflect this with in-game physics, I imagine a world like this having a gravitational field that resembles magnetic field lines, where falling off the very edge actually causes you to loop back around in a tight circle, and the closer to the center of the island you are, the wider the circle of gravity is. This means that buildings would need to curve away from the island's center in order to follow the curve of gravity, and the curve would get more exaggerated the farther from the center you were. You could actually build a tower so high that it would curve all the way around to the underside. This would also help to conserve resources like water and atmosphere, rather than just having them endlessly leak off of the island into the void of space.

I've always theorized about making a mod that allows you to 'string' together worlds by warping you between them after you go off the ocean's border, so you could go to one large world with crimson to another large world off the coast with corruption and vise-versa. Of course I don't have the technical expertise for it, and making a smooth non-teleport transition would be _way_ more hassle than it's worth...
