That's because it is. These "writers" in AAA games industry, Hollywood, and streaming shows can't do anything else but do self insert characters, fan fiction, and very heavy handed "subdivision" and deconstruction. It's why they hate cannon so much and do everything to get away from it, they are only capable of doing tumblresque fan fiction or gender/race swap existing characters to usurp the "mantle" of that character. For the case of veilguard the devs have come straight out and said that some of the LGBTQIA+ characters are written by some one with the same identity as the character... Farming Sim IS a well-established franchise, with a dedicated fan-base, BUT it's suffering from repetition by this stage, each iteration is kind of a re-write of the previous one. I've got a few versions of it, from 2009 to 2022. To be honest, at release, Farming Sim usually DOES do pretty well because of that fan base, but it's still pretty embarrassing that something that is kind of a 'FIFA for Farmers' situation by now _still_ manages to outsell DAV. Edit: Also, remember that for one company that is a massive profit compared to their investment, for the other, it is a massive loss.

This is extremely bad for Veilguard, because Farming Simulator is like Fifa; it gets a new game every year over and over and over. 13, 15, 17, 19, 22, it just kept going like that. The fact a game with that history, with the only notable viral history it might've had being when Node made the "Put Your Tractor In The Pile" shirts, beating a 10 year hyped game says a lot about that game. And for the record, DEI defenders, Farming Sim 25 nearly beat its record 3 days in a row. Wanna know what other games did that, and also managed to do it? Black Myth Wukong, Helldivers 2. That last scene with Tassh or however it's spelled was pretty uncomfortable. Her appearance is terrible but that scene had a very "assaulty" feel to it. If you put a man in that scene instead of Tassh and had him act in the same way people would have lost their minds complaining about it. I'm also highly doubtful they're ever going to see a break even point with the way sales are going for this game.

If a man did that to a woman at the minimum it would be sexual assault charges maybe even attempted grape charges.

By all accounts Farming Sim 25 is pretty good. At the end of the day Farming Sim is a long running franchise with a yearly release. Kind of like any number of sports ball games. It was always going to be way bigger than Fairguard.

It is an own, but it's not the full picture. Getting to 1 mil units sold before the end of November and then 2-3 mil total before the end of the January should be within their market projections because the sales are being padded by subscriptions. As long as a sufficient number of people "give the game a fair try" by buying 1 month pro subscriptions for November and/or December, they look good on the earnings call, the game's not a flop, and the next game is just more of the same, regardless of brand damage.

Remember that EA shelved Dead Space Remake for "only" selling 2m copies. This game probably cost more.

They have a lot of scenes of them inventing terms on the spot and having to explain in detail immediately.

One player did a video where he purposelly set the companions to fail, it was hilarious watching that as they all die... Especially Traash, who has one of the most stupid deaths if you do it right

Simulator Games Like farming ones are extremly popular in germany, not only for non gaming adults but also for children, because you can drive big farming equipment around. I literally upgraded a PC for my nephew only for him to play Farming and Eurotruck Simulator. I think this is especially true in Rural Areas with lots of Agriculture. My point is, it has a target demographic that definitly exists in contrast to Veilguard

I thought the Abby back-shot scene from The Last of Us 2 was bad but holy shit, this one takes the crown easily. This whole moment plays out like the fanfics I read around 20 years ago.

These sim games are very stable and surprisingly popular. But a "AAA" Bioware game falling short of that benchmark is just pathetic
