You have an entirely different race which could have its own customs, religion, family structure, codes, laws, language, etc. and the best thing you can think of is to make them some non-binary thing? I'm trying to imagine someone in the 14th-century Europe having a non-binary conversation with their parents and how well that will go? What's crazy to me is that the vilguard dialogue while it sounds bad wouldn't be as bad if it didn't feel like it just abruptly stopped for somebody to talk about their trauma. Don't get me wrong, it's terrible, but for some reason whenever a character seems to start giving a talk or a speech that the other characters just start trauma dumping or they'll give some stupid piece of exposition about coffee or feeling small. Like what the hell?
@VisivisiV25 күн бұрын
They seriously put in an entire conversation about "some people don't enjoy coffee black" in a AAA medieval fantasy game about slaying dragons? And they even made it go exactly the same as it would at the water cooler in the most boring stereotype of an office. Truly amazing.

The team dialogue is really bizarre, you either get dull office anecdotes or infantile therapy sessions.All of it is just warped workplace identity talking points forced upon employees and customers by corporate. Content creaters aren't wrong when they say that HR were in the writers room at all times.
@midnightw12727 күн бұрын
Every veilguard conversation sounds like they’re trying to have some kind of quirky/relatable therapy session, except none of them are mental health professionals and none of it sounds like it’s even taking place in a high fantasy setting.

Tara's very few dialogues (She has probably 10-15 minutes of dialogue if you play as Gale and slightly less with Tav) is far, far, FAR more entertaining and well-written than anything that The Failguard offers.
@Imman1s14 күн бұрын
She stays in character the entire #@$# game. Something that the writers of the Veilguard have no clue how to do. Also, there is a lot about her personality and her relationship with Gale that is never explicitly said, but is conveyed perfectly (for instance, if you talk to her as Gale in the rooftop, he doesn't even scold her or ask her to leave unless prodded by Tav)
@ChristophelusPulps6 күн бұрын
I love how all of the dialogue options in DAtVG are like, "Enthusiastic Affirmation," "Firm Affirmation," or "Gentle Affirmation." Rarely can you tell one of your whiny, childish companions that you're not their dad or their therapist and they should grow the hell up.

The bird in BG3 that tells you some eagles stole his nest, so he asks you to take it back for him? That lying bird convinced me at first, but then he pissed me off. Turned out the bird never had a nest, and he only wanted us to kill the huge eagles so he can steal one of their huge nests. Shouldve thrown a fireball at that bird, but those eagles attacked me after telling them I came in peace, so I suppose they had to die anyways.
@Imman1s14 күн бұрын
Lol, the Karen eagle you mean. Even her short dialog conveyed her personality perfectly. But you are right, that blue jay is such asshole that even if you take down the eagles with non-lethal attacks, he sweeps down and kill them anyway. I whish there was a way to capture him and release him in the shadow-cursed lands. You know, just to see if Larian accounted for that :p

Veilguard's writing base on what I've seen is almost focus on character's ego too much which make me feel they're trying to get player's sympathy than focus on the game's story, that's why I'm not feel good whenever a character start to say something, it's not fun, it's more stressful than usual
@evakhaanАй бұрын
talking to characters in this game is like walking past a homeless disabled person who begs for money. you always give him money, but after a million times this situation starts to stress you out, and the money runs out. but if you refuse, you will feel like a bad person. and this feeling is exploited by the game. so the atmosphere in the team feels very toxic.
