Yep, I’ve heard pretty much all of these. Also it’s really irritating when Americans ask why we spell pronounce things incorrectly. It’s called English for a reason. Also another large one is them expecting the U.K. to be the same as the USA. Just because we have the same language, it doesn’t mean that we are the same. Another one that’s irritating it when Americans ask us why we like (insert British food here) and why we eat it so much. the most irritating thing is people attempting our accent or mainly asking us to say words. Like we aren’t animals at a zoo or we aren’t the tourist attraction itself

A question you Ravens might be well placed to answer- kettles. I grew up and still live in Canada, lived in London in the 90s, and have wandered around the US. When I recently inherited and started using a stovetop kettle I thought it rather an old-fashioned notion. I grew up with the electric kettle. For some reason, I had it in my head that electric kettles are dominant in North America and stovetop in UK/europe. Some sources suggest the reverse is true, and some Americans seem to swear by stovetops. What has your living experience suggested? As to the microwave, I know it's probably increasingly common everywhere, but it's nuts. Like using a jet engine on a bicycle. No matter in what order the ingredients. I'm not an Anglo-tea snob though- with the Russians, I think most teas should be taken straight. Cheap Earl Grey with a bit of sweetener. Huge dollops of milk and sugar are reserved only to make Builders' Tea with cheap Orange Pekoe, vile when unadorned.

Wandering Ravens the tea in the microwave made me feel a bit ill. Although I will confess, I have heated tea back up in the microwave before 😱 only when my babies were very tiny and I spent my days making cups of tea only for them to go cold before I got chance to drink them. I’m actually quite ashamed to admit this 😳

As a Geordie, I really like going a bit over the top with the accent whenever I talk to an American, I try to make it as hard to understand as possible, using all the slang so it is basically a different language!

That's great! 😂 Have you ever been asked what language you are speaking?

That was one of the best ever! The worst thing I heard was an American whose son had married a Spanish woman who had learnt English in the UK - "So we corrected her" he said. When I replied "You mean: you corrupted her" a rather confused look passed across his face.
