4:29 even portfolios can be tough to go by sometimes. Back when I was doing an apprenticeship, my “mentor” had a portfolio book, and the majority of the tattoos weren’t his, and he just sprinkled his “best” tattoos in. His best tattoos were still mediocre at best.

People honestly don’t know what good art vs bad art is. Ive had multiple people not understand the term “shading” which I feel is a pretty basic word. They want a tattoo-not art. And consumerism has taught them to shop for the best deals possible. It’s fucking mind blowing, and sad a hell.

Is this time for some red tape in the tattoo world? What do think? Right now anyone can call themselves a "tattoo artist" and start messing around permanently ruining people's skin. You may blame the customer, but most people don't have the expert's eye to understand the technical details. I mean, before finding this channel, I'd see some tattoos and think "oh it's fine, it looks nice" but then, when I hear Pony talking about the technical aspects, the line, the shading, the saturation, etc. I realized that tattoo I thought was "fine" was actually a mess.

I wouldn’t judge a guy for having tattoos, but when I was single I WOULD judge a guy based on what tattoos he had. Face tattoos would’ve been a big nope. Another nope would be unironic brand logos. Knew a guy with the jordans jump man logo on his calf. The guy was white and didn’t play basketball or wear jordans… 🤔 There’s a lot of tattoos that show a person’s creativity, personality, or history, but there’s a lot that show he’s a douche or a moron. I think which tattoos belong in either category will differ from girl to girl
