Fun fact: The Stahlhelm (The WW2 German Helmet) was the best in the war, and for quite a long time afterwards. The only reason the design wasn't ever used was it's connection with Nazi Germany.

Because millions of soldiers collected war souvenirs. Rifles, tools, patches and uniforms/armor were all brought back home by all sides. Some people even took tank and truck parts as curiosities, and treasure hunters regularly unearth specimens. A German Bunker was recently found completely intact and sealed, with legible documents surviving.

Italian weapons made by the Beretta Factory (Mainly their SubMachine Guns) where highly desirable collectibles due to the fact the weapons where of such quality that even after the Germans took over the factories when they occupied Northern Italy they let them continue with their production, yes the germans which are known to make magnificent weapons (Do not see the Ferdinand Tank Destroyer that was Porsche's idea) wanted to continue with it's production.

If im correct in the eagle thats blurred the helmet was issued to the luftwaffe. However with it missing the liner and missing a rivet for the linner its only worth about 500. Its not a rare piece either less common then a standard helmet but not rare.

I'm not so shocked about the helmet because My grandfather (RIP) served in WW2 on the allies side in the US 4th armored, he had war trophies out the ass. including but not limited to the hat of an officer. Ok, so that is an M42 type Stahlhelm, late war. Already worth a couple hundred in that very good condition. Depending on if the decal is an eagle or 'two lightnings', in the latter case double that number. Only thing I can rule out is the possibility of it being Kriegsmarine (Navy) since then the blurring would have a golden shimmer instead of silver. So that leaves either Heer (Army, eagle sitting atop the no-no symbol), Luftwaffe (Air Force, eagle in flight) or 'No-no squad' (The super bad guys, two 'lightnings')
