Terry winning isn't the punchline. It's the setup. HOW he won is the punchline. Your argument is akin to saying "SPOILERS" to someone saying "Knock knock", because now you know they're about to tell a knock-knock joke. Regardless, it's a half hour sitcom, not a multi-part drama with story beats that all lead up to this. It's all dumb ridiculousness that then resets the characters to the status quo at the end of each episode so that the next episode can keep being funny without a lot of explanation. It's like being concerned about being spoiled for a mid-season episode of Cheers.
