Hola. Where did you buy the fan? We are in Costa Rica as well. Pura vida.

Hola Amigos! We are here now as well for the next 6 months. Bought that fan at Casa Y Mas here in Guancaste, between Santa Rosa and Huacus.

The new fan that you were installing looks very identical to the Hampton Bay/SMC industrial that we have here in Canada
@CeilingFanVideosOnYT Жыл бұрын
Actually, Hampton Bay that look identical to that one is actually made by PowerMax and imported by King of Fans.

That's a plastic junction box normally they're not rated for a ceiling fan but I think there is a metal brace between the two studs that is connected to the Box and it's held firmly by a nail that I can see it's literally designed for heavier light fixture but a ceiling fan will do just fine.

I have a 3'-4' drop fan already installed but the fan stopped working. Can I just install a new fan on the old droprod, or do I need a new droprod also?
@theinternetelectrician2 жыл бұрын
That's tricky. Fixtures, including fans, are approved as an entire unit. Technically no, you cant. Realistically, yes you can as long as the rods are the same size, holes match, etc.

Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. kzbin.infoUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

Good informative video but that nail on blue box is not rated for fans.

shhh. That will be our secret. Hard to get actual boxes like this at all in Costa Rica, let alone special "ceiling fan" boxes. It's getting better, but all my electrical supplies were shipped over from Miami as it was. We both know that there are millions of ceiling fans hanging from standard ceiling boxes that are mounted with a couple #8 wood screws. Trust me, this one could support 500 lbs with no issues the way I mounted it.

should've gotten an evirofan Goldline way better quality. and you could've just used the downrod from the old fan. I honestly would replace the capacitor because that old fan looked better quality.

That outlet box is a plastic fiberglass box wich is NOT rated for ceiling fans, that fan could fall and hurt someone

At first glance, when I skipped to the end of the video, I thought it was a Hampton Bay Industrial.

this is not an extension but a replacement with a longer down rod

Lastly one may have to re-seat blades after a break-in of 24 hrs- might also take care of your wobbles. UNLESS you buy a harbor breeze fan from BLUE BALLS LOWES then you will be part of the class action lawsuit of one of there models (more models to join) blades failing, flying off due to a structural break in the fan blade. AND if you buy a fan with a integrated circuit board that has no mechanical pull switches for light or fan (which means you can NOT have a wall switch for variable speed or light control)- avoid most of them because the receiver in the fan housing usually shorts, and is NONrepairable /NON REPLACEABLE due to a sealed housing.

I did not know about these issues.

so where do you suggest buying from? have found some at lowe's that i really considered until reading this. Can't find many reviews on them. There's a Fanimation (which sounds made up) and a Minka 3 blade which we really like. Our down rod will have ot be the 72". how would that affect or not affect woble / performance of the fan?

This video is so goddamn long and boring! But he has a house in Costa Rica so he wins.
