It wasn't phantom braking. The car turning in front of you protruded into your lane according to Autopilot (you can see it in the visualization). Autopilot is way more defensive than FSD in those situations.

@robotinreallife4 ай бұрын
Thanks for pointing out the major disengagements! I should point out that for all of these situations, you are not really supposed to actually use autopilot. We're testing it far beyond it's designated domain operation - so we're really asking for it. If you're just using it on highways and easy roads, you can chill a lot, while still paying attention of course.

In terms of hardware what is the difference between FSD and Autopilot? Is FSD better in driving scenarios like roundabouts?
@robotinreallife3 ай бұрын
Awesome question! 🚗💡 Hardware-wise, they’re both running on the same gear, but the difference is in the software-think of Autopilot as Level 1, and FSD as the boss level. Autopilot handles basic tasks like highways, while FSD is designed to tackle more complex stuff like city streets, roundabouts, and basically any weird driving scenario you throw at it. I actually covered this in my very first video-check it out for the full breakdown! ⏬ ➡️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp6qe2ymZsqnZpo ⬅️ Also, what’s the most confusing roundabout you’ve ever driven through? I’d love to know! 😄

Don't worry, we're going to the Prague City Centre soon enough! I appreciate the fair criticism 💪 And you are absolutely right, Autopilot would fail miserably, however once we get FSD... that's another story!

Thank you so much! You are right, it is possible to enable it in the settings, which we have - despite that, sometimes it just doesn't respond correctly.

Do you think Tesla could bring some features of the FSD 12.5 to Europe ? (Without calling « autonomous ») It is a pity to have such a limited software in Europe…
@robotinreallife4 ай бұрын
I think they are just trying to push in the full stack through regulators and we'll get it soon enough. Hopefully not much later than the first half of next year! More information probably on the 10th of October.

@@robotinreallife May i ask where you got this info? All the info i've been able to find so far indicated that at the very best we'll be able to get a significantly restricted and downgraded version of FSD after the new regulations are implemented. I mean, severely restricted, as in it can't even change lane without you first allowing it by indicating for example, and it will require you to nudge the wheel nearly constantly (camera based monitoring alone wasn't enough from my understanding?), making it near impossible to use in practice as it means you will need to constantly decide what you will allow the car to do, which also make it impossible for the car to make any sudden decision on it's own which FSD will need to work as intended. At least as long as we're still taking about a level 2 system, as Tesla FSD currently is. Now i seriously hope I'm wrong though, as i hate how the EU constantly restrict the potential ease of use and safety functions the car really have to offer, but i fear we're currently still far away from allowing anything like FSD in EU any time soon - unless Elon is either very good at convincing them otherwise. Or even better, if Elon is able to turn FSD into a higher level system then level 2. For sure, as soon as anything even close to FSD becomes available in Norway/EU, i will upgrade both my cars.
@lolfreakwaca43284 ай бұрын
@@JanErik1986so true , it looks life if we DO get a version of FSD, it will probably be a heavily restricted and Downgraded V11 version of FSD… or MAYBE FSD gets a Special License by the EU, but I have to Admit, I highly Doubt that!

if it is not version 12.5+ it is not relevant, then it is almost a decade old software, that is not using neural networks... we will have FSD 12.5 here in Europe in a few months... so why focus on the old dysfunctional stuff?
@robotinreallife4 ай бұрын
That's a really great and valid question! I wanted to prepare my channel as best as possible for the arrival of FSD in Europe. First, going through the workflow of recording a video such as this helps me figure out all the technical stuff on my side NOW rather than on the first day of FSD, when I'll be ready to make the best possible videos. Second, these rides will provide a shocking benchmark/control group for people who now watch them and think that self-driving is decades away. Going through the same places and challenges on FSD won't even be a challenge. And comparing FSD to Autopilot is useful for highlighting its performance and intelligence. Mainly for these two reasons, I have decided to start with a few videos about testing Autopilot. Because it's the only option we have! :)
