Tesla just announced its first humanoid robot, which it's calling Tesla Bot. Boston Dynamics has been working on its own humanoid robot for more than 10 years. Watch how both bots compare.

Agreed. We have videos of Boston robots doing backflips and jumping around without any harnesses. Elon shows us a picture and had a weird doomsday doubt about this product coz he’s weird like that… we don’t get to see what it’s mobility actually is, or what kind of tasks it can do or how good it is at navigating or balancing or anything practical or useful or interesting… it’s kinda a joke to compare these two lol

They are already involved in large scale systems. Tesla is years ahead of Boston Dynamics when it actually comes to AI research including areas like pattern recognition and visual recognition systems. Elon’s whole marketing and planning for Tesla is “just trust me bro”. Tesla is super overvalued as a company and a stock. Most of the products it pitches are nonsensical or secretly super inefficient/ineffective. Most of Tesla’s plans are about pitching some really stupid and “futuristic” idea to the public and market investors that have no idea what they are doing, and then having engineers behind the scenes try to walk back from the fund idea to something that even remotely resembles “functional”.

Boston Dynamics lack of AI, its all pre programmed movements or at least, quite dumb. Then they can keep increasing the quality of the movements but they won't far go without a super complex AI that is a even bigger challenge than movement . Also , they seems to have little idea of scalability and real world applications, that have made them simply a prototype maker for many years and nothing else. They eventually will be superseded by companies that control AI , even with less acrobatic robots, and that can keep cost low. The first contractors were military, that explains also the lack of awareness that visuals of the robots also matters, even this is secondary. They look weapons or heavy use machines that you only would find in industrial buildings.

When that video got made that was the reaction of a lot of people that watched it. I have never understood that reaction. It was a demonstration of the ability of the robot to deal with situations. How can you show the robot can deal with it if you don't put it through it? In addition, that robot does not have a conscious mind. It doesn't remember anything, it doesn't know anything, it doesn't think about anything. The computer brain that it has is only capable of following the instructions that are programmed into it. And no matter what anyone else wants to think, that robot was not abused. It cannot be abused. Everyone who has that feeling is assigning human traits to a machine. This is not something new, as we have been doing this with various machines over the years. The greatest example is our cars. We give them names and we treat them as though they're human. I think it's time people started getting over themselves and started accepting things for what they are instead of making them be something they are not.

@Aj Cyrill Dy In terms of the Parkour and jumping around the Boston Dynamics are doing is great work in Robotics kinetics and their ai that acts as a buffer to human remote controls is impressive but does that mean it is better than Tesla well I would say no way. Tesla is leading the way in mapping and optimization ai which will have a far larger impact in the next phase of robotics. Once the Tesla ai approach is layered with the likes of the kinetics of Boston Dynamics we will start to see the first rudimentary humanoid robotics systems that will truly impressive people.

To quote Fred, a commenter above: The difference in the two 'reveals' is intent. Boston Dynamics wanted to announce that it had a functional robot. Tesla wants to announce its intention to build a humanoid robot and encourages talented individuals to join the team that will make it.

And why should i think, he can implement a working autonomous function within a year? Just to be on the same page, the cars of Tesla a far, far away from fully autonomous driving.
