I’ve been in a hurricane with 120 mile per hour winds, well more like 105-110 where I was (a few miles inland) sustained with a gust of 117 at airport a mile from our house and I’d say that’s around the cusp where wind speeds gets physically dangerous (could be dangerous depending on structure your in and location.) I think around 125-130 it goes from could be dangerous to dangerous.

What do you mean? Why are you acting like tornados always give ample warning time? Do you know how often one hits without ANY warning, sirens, anything? Very often. If you're out on the road and you suddenly see a tornado coming at you, what are you supposed to do? Life doesn't stop when there's a tornado risk, the county doesn't shut down if there's a storm, people still have to go to work and live their lives because 99% of the time, there's no tornado. There are entire weeks where there's a tornado risk every day, sometimes longer, and then a tornado never comes. Humans don't believe/understand until they see it with their eyes, that's literally human nature and one of the biggest reasons storm chasing and weather cams are so vital for weather safety. Now, I'm not advocating for anyone to go opening doors and storm gaze because obviously that's not wise, but to chalk it up to not being "weather aware" is nonsense.

It's amazing and disturbing to me to watch people driving literally in the midst of a tornado, or standing at large glass windows as the tornado winds really hit. This behavior can lead to terrible, painful injuries, or death. Should this not be taken seriously?

I think i might have been in a small one recently because I saw just a wall of rain outside my window and power going on and off continuously in neighboring apartment buildings. No damage but a few things blew around. I knew there was a tornado warning but not a confirmed tornado in my exact area. I think a lot of people assume they won't get hit directly so it's basically just a bad storm for them and not worth fretting over and getting everything in a shelter. Obviously that's wrong thinking but it's what years of living in a tornado prone area but never seeing one for yourself will do to most people. You learn to stop caring and sleep through it. We need more education about the threat of tornadoes and a better way of delivering specific warnings to the public so they know to take them seriously and not assume it'll hit them.
