In this experiment a high frequency high voltage diode is connected to the breakout point of a tesla coil to see if the Tesla coil will produce DC high voltage output instead of alternating current electric field .

I've managed to charge up a Leyden jar type capacitor using a Tesla coil without using a purpose built rectifier. My hypothesis on this is that the electrons are slightly more mobile than the positive ions leaving a net charge direction in the corona. Although the efficiency was garbage and not able to pump too much voltage as it would hit a sort of equilibrium. Very nice work by the way.

very awesome! i wonder if this can be used in a vacuum to create gems and metal coatings the way negative ions are used?

Interestingly, I was able to get negative ions by reversing the direction of the diodes. It behaved almost identical to the positive ions. I bet if this was used in a vacuum, some interesting effects could be obtained.

I guess the reason there is no rectified topload breakout is because you are only charging the capacitor (topload/air) at half power and at half the frequency(maybe/probably I'm wrong? ) which increases the capacitors impedance ?

That could be a reason. Only get a hissing sound at the break out point but no visible Plasma Flame.

Yes this can be done but a high power Tesla coil insulated in high pressure helium a gas in noble gas configuration makes the voltage go higher. Also a high power Tesla coil needs a wiring like the middle beam of a H with the up and down sides of every H high vacuum tubes with a cathode and an anode and a large coil at the bottom and top parts of the tubes of the H shape where the tubes form the longer vertical parts of the H interconnected with tubes with a different connection cathode versus anode versus the middle beam part that feeds them. They have an ekectro maget at the part where either electrons are allowed to fly away from the anode the minus part atom model of Bohr electronsare negative the gongrom negative to positive an anode of active has a negative connection cathode is plus electrons follow the field lines they spiral around them but by making large enough tubes and not only using anode and cathode to differentiate between glow direction but also an electro kagnet at the end of the H shape legges away from the middle part one could increase rectification and tubes can handle more abuse I rather have a tube scope by a Tesla coil than a transitie or semiconductor based one and this is a high power rectification scheme possibly with even more tubes behind one another in the leggen of the h shape remember to make them thick enough sonthe electrons can follow the field lines of the coils and spiral around them. Than instead of having a sideways facing shape consider a bipolar Tesla coil with such a H shape on both sides and a series of tubes possibly even using after the high vacuum tubes capacitors filled with Mercury vapour and some of these high power sets of rectifiers to soup up the power in DC voltage even higher wouldn't that be interesting for science and why tubes well they just can run more power more amps and are more robust.

I thought the microwave oven diodes are only good for 60 Hz for the voltage doubler circuit
