Is it possible to make the coil larger, like to fit a steel container 5 to 6 inch diameter? I only need to get hot enough for aluminum. Maybe brass would be nice but alum for sure.
@BrianDhvTinkerer
@BrianDhvTinkerer Күн бұрын
Yes coil can be made bigger. It will work with any size coil. For larger coil the resonant frequency will be lower. This needs to be above 20 kHz. This can be done by lowering tank capacitance value for larger coils. The current rating of the capacitor or capacitors needs to be at least 500A or above. I have two parallel 650A caps (1300A) which is overkill. It’s better to use water cooled capacitors.
@TheStarforce2
@TheStarforce2 Күн бұрын
@BrianDhvTinkerer ok so there is some calculations that need to be made I am guessing for the number of turns as well? I don't quite understand everything you said, but I have sitting in the scrap pile a large transformer with some copper winding that is hard to bend that might work for making a coil, unless it will melt? I see some run water through the tubes that make the coil, so I am not sure since aluminum melts lower than copper.

This is actually very interesting good sir and I applaud u for it. People usually use aluminum foil inside an electricity insulated acrylic tube capped off at both ends. The only way to get torque is to add more of those negative and positive phases in an odd number or to increase the drum diameter. With this u have increased the torque by actually placing something that is effected by the discharge that carries momentum behind it and with the fluid viscosity, carries the jar. I love it. Thank u for ur video to share ❤

Why do I never see anyone building a proper PASSIVE Tesla coil? You collect high voltage from the air into a capacitor and the SECONDARY coil. Once enough charge builds up it crosses spark gap and a higher current lower voltage flows on the primary side. With careful spark gap adjust one can get a continuous flow from the air. 100v per meter so you might want old antenna tower
@Magneticitist
@Magneticitist 4 күн бұрын
Hobby tinkerers do that quite a bit but they realize fast it's quite a waste of time. There are also quite a bit of tall structures on the planet. If it was really that viable you would see it more. People use what works.

The lower capacitance means that the current flowing in the primary tank is less which is less hard on the IGBT or Mosset switches. It also means that you can have more primary turns which gives better coupling and more energy transferred to the secondary coil.

@@BrianDhvTinkerer That would be great... I finally ended up figuring out a way, but a zoomed photo will help folks a lot. Because a lot of "push" pressure is needed to open the valve to fill, the tip with the small indent (notch cut out), was getting crushed so it had no flow path. I used a sharp boxing knife to cut a slightly deeper notch and it worked (albeit not perfectly). Metal tips would be perfect or a harder plastic. Anyhow filled three tubes I had sitting empty knowing full well this master ripoff would eventually be thwarted! 😆. Thank you!!!!
