Electric cars can't tow. It's a fun recreational vehicle, but someone who actually needs a practical truck probably wants to be able to tow. It has a lot of torque, but it's range when towing is going to be atrocious.
@pierre.a.larsen3 жыл бұрын
@@momatotsosrorudodi That is unfortunately true. Streamlined trailers will be important and I suppose huge batteries will become a thing when the prices go down (could trailers get large batteries installed?) Also charge stations will have to be changed so you can charge with the trailer hitched. Something will happen as ICE has its days counted.
@iamworthy13023 жыл бұрын
@@pierre.a.larsen it's actually not true, with 500 miles range compared to the 250 of the hummer. You should be fine towing anything for 300 miles or so. Supports 150 miles of range per 15 mins. Shouldn't be a problem.
@pierre.a.larsen3 жыл бұрын
@@iamworthy1302 I hope you are right but I doubt it. It is a matter of efficiency. The Cybertruck is designed to be low drag and very efficient. Not so if you are trailing a boat or a big machine as they for sure are not low drag and probably also have quite a bit of rolling resistance. OTOH the tow range (even relatively short) of the Cybertruck 500 mile version will be fine for most people. The driving brick, the Ford EV pickup, with its short range, may actually have a problem as its range while towing will be short. Ok so for everyone that doesn't actually know anything about the auto industry this is where it's at: The cybertruck will not hit the market in this form. There are national and international safety standards that it will not pass. Pedestrian safety (it will decapitate them), Other car safety and car occupants safety. In this configuration it's more an APC than a normal truck or car. Modern cars have soft skin and crumple zones that absorb the impact and save the lives of the occupants, pedestrians or other car drivers, this cybertruck if it's that resistant, it will just kill anything it hits, also the internal shock will probably also kill or seriously injure the truck's occupants.

I think the genius is the simplicity of the design. It's bold and gives the vehicle its character, and also simple in a way that makes manufacturing and assembly extremely easy and cheap without sacrificing quality. With that design, the base model will cost the owner about $39k... that's cheaper than a base model Korean made Chevrolet Cruz considering the size, the features and the torque. The challenge Tesla is facing is that the Cybertruck is too large and, for lacking the side view mirrors, it's not street legal. But with such a simple genius design, all needed modifications are relatively easier to make. If I were there in the event, I'd buy one immediately and wouldn't think twice.
