This is quite simply, in my humble opinion, the greatest road trip ever for us EV enthusiasts. Great video and congratulations on the success. Very well deserved.
@Greytusks4 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing this trip. It was an interesting adventure in itself. Opinion/suggestion on how the video was put together : most of the video is the camera staring mostly at the screen, and you talking about charging spots/time. This would be fine if this was a video about the EV's efficiency, but I see this as an adventure/trip video about going to the artic, not a charging/efficiency experience video. For me, I would have loved a better focus on you, your experience, your stories, the adventure and the trip in the truck itself. It would have been more interesting than looking at the truck's screen for more than half the video. Each stop, instead of talking about charging, talking more about the current rest stop and the area/region around it?

Cool trip. Remember to be thankful for those 50kwh chargers. Lots of places in the lower 48 when you get off the beaten path you are thankful to find these DCFC. Just illustrates that efficiency does matter. During the heavy travel times and holidays these rural 50kwh DCFC stack up with people waiting for a charge and it gets bad if you have places to be. Even worse if the charger is derated or down. It has saved my bacon to keep a good buffer and try to limp to another charger on a couple of occasions now. Sounds like on that route you were on there isn't even a limp to plan b site if those chargers are down or clogged with people waiting. Hopefully there are plans to correct this. Sounds like the trip went well.

Super awesome, thanks for setting up new charging points on the way too! Small suggestion, the amount of charging stop clips all in a row might terrify people who don't drive EVs because it seems like all the trip was was a ton of charging stops. Other travel channels I love never show stops at the gas station, they tend to focus on the sights and scenery along the way with very little to no refuel/recharge clips. I'm not sure if this is good thinking though, let me know.

Epic journey. Regarding car battery range calculations, I don't wait for the Tesla to recalculate the necessary charge. I just take the distance to the next charger and add around 100 miles. Doing this has never let me down. I did a 5800 mile road trip from Tampa to Vegas and back (with lots of sightseeing detours). For long road trip, I always carry my portable charge pack. In an emergency, I could connect to any live AC outlet anywhere (municipal light poles, park gazebos, RV campsites, etc.). Thankfully, I have never needed to use the portable adapter except for VRBO house rental locations that have offered free charging.

As a potential future Tesla owner, I am curious about the trip planner. It's nice to see all the routing to get you to the chargers along the way... I thought it was interesting that you needed to add your own time estimates for charging in order to get your own arrival time estimate. Is the trip planner not able to estimate charging times at each of those stops?

Man what an awful trip. In canada you pull in to a fuel stop with a little over 2 hours to drive. Instead of 5 minutes to get 350 miles in the tank, you sit in your car for 1:50, no food, no hotel, no titty bar, nothing. Then drive the two hours 10, and arrive with a 2 hour chore to get more fuel. Dude, I hope the freebies you get are worth it, I'd rather have a decent nights sleep at a motel, get a half decent meal, spend 15 minutes fueling up, compared to sitting and sleeping in my car for days on end and eating at truck stops. You paid 100 grand for a 40 grand truck, put a 2500 charger in you house for this pleasure. Cruel and Inhumane punishment this tesla cult.
@SpaceTravel1776Ай бұрын
Have fun changing your oil. Have fun stopping at gas stations. No gas stations needed when you charge at home for daily driving. Have fun paying 5x as much for fuel to drive your car to McDonald’s. Sorry you don’t get it. Most likely you don’t want to.
@TheRealEstateHunterInc10 күн бұрын
I'd love to know the travel time to charge time ratio...and charge time includes when you exit the freeway looking for the charging station. Looks like you are driving for 2 hours and charging for 35-40 min. Massively inefficient use of time.

My plan is to build a simple plywood platform with foam slab across the rear seats with a hinged extension forward when the passenger seat is fully forward to sleep diagonally across the rear seats. I’m 5’8” it’s going to be tight. Stock tires. No rear rack. Maybe the cyber tent for when I’m away from civilization. Some sort of 20 gallon gas tank and generator in the bed. I'll probably wait until the extender pack is installed before my trip. Is your ride height set to Medium even when driving? Low would give much better mileage. Tesla really needs to connect these classic destinations with the supercharger network. There is shame in that the charging experiences are the highlights of this journey. Would be nice to see and experience more of the actual countryside and less of the technical details of charging.
