@obimk1104? “Car… child safety… pedestrian avoidance”…? This is a truck towing an electric RV. Nothing about child safety or pedestrian avoidance - though Tesla’s are top notch at those things… got the highest scores ever on Euro NCAP widely considered the toughest and most complete assessment of modern vehicle safety tech. Cybertruck will be just as safe to people inside it and out. Tesla has AI that prevents pedal misapplication instances when people are near the car as in parking lots. I’ve seen about a dozen videos where this feature has saved dozens of kids lives, or at least they’re not crippled. So chances are the only “shit car” around is… yours? 🤷♂️

as someone who has towed many times, having a good camera showing the hitch is much faster than controlling the rv itself. however, this does give you the ability to completely protect the trailer from theift by moving it so that the hitch is completely blocked against the wall. its an ev trailer so chance of some theif just picking it up and pulling is pretty low, but i guess thats cool. but honestly, as someone who has towed an rv multiple times, this is not ideal at all. you never want to need a specific trailer to tow with your expensive pickup truck. the plus of having extended range is cool and if you live in it, this would be pretty cool. but most people park their trailer for long periods of time and having so much technology involved, makes it extremely susceptible to rats and other pest related damage and once a wire gets bitten off here, it becomes a much greater issue than a normal trailer because its all connected.

I think there are about four companies that I know of that are working on putting EV motors in the wheels now, but I’m willing to bet it won’t be long before it could be an option with many trailers to extend the range of the tow vehicle. I have a gas tow vehicle now that goes from a normal unladen range of about 380 miles, to 225 miles with the trailer, so it’s great for a gas or EV to get back half the range. Plus the party trick to me is with all the solar on this trailer, you can recharge the EV while camping.

Don’t buy the Cybertruck. You are making a big mistake. It’s already got a total recall a few months in, what else is wrong with it? Get your money back and at least wait until they fix all the bugs. If you don’t wrap it? You have to clean it nonstop. You can’t use a carwash with brushes if you don’t spend money on a wrap. The steel is rusting it’s low quality stainless. Big mistake, cancel and wait. Always a bad idea to buy a year one model of any car. I think for the money you’d be way better off with a model X. You can still use it to tow a trailer minus the reduced range. But it’s a more practical vehicle and they are cool. Or just buy a real pickup truck with an engine.

@brianleeray17 ай бұрын
Weight is always a concern for travel trailers. By my back of the envelope calculations, that 1500lb of batteries, motors, etc. will get you an extra 50 miles of range. Well, maybe less since I didn't take into account the extra 1500lb in the mi/kWh estimate. Don't forget that you're going to need 2 fast chargers at each stop, one CCS and one NACS. The 45kWh stated capacity is also almost exactly the estimate for the Cybertruck range extender. You could buy one of those, a normal trailer, and a duffel bag to hold all the leftover cash.
@motofunk17 ай бұрын
Trailer GVWR of 6200lbs, actual weight? 5000lbs? Battery should only be 500lbs for 45kWh, motors and drivetrain vs standard axle probably plus 1000lbs? Moving that weight by itself would likely take 500wh/m, but there may be a big aero advantage behind a tow vehicle given its shape. Not sure how much power they will "drive" it forward with, but I bet there could be between 90-100 mile range improvement, 45kWh/500wh/m. Putting the range extender in the CT is basically a permanent add, leaving that weight in the trailer seems like a better idea. Says it can charge an EV from the trailer, so maybe only one plug in to charge both at the same time, need to see what the outlet port from the trailer is, along with charge controller capability. Cash outlay, you are correct. Way overpriced.

Chris says that towing cuts EV range because of the weight being towed but that is not accurate. There are multiple factors. The primary reason range is reduced while towing is because of the added aerodynamic drag of the trailer (which is why Pebble focused on streamlining the trailer shape) and that drag increases significantly at higher speeds. Just going 65 instead of 55mph makes a big difference. Also rain and headwinds cut range noticeably. The other factor is rolling resistance (having additional tires on the road) and then weight.
@EverydayChris7 ай бұрын
all true.
@carholic-sz3qv7 ай бұрын
another problem is you cant increase the range of the EV while some massive diesel trucks can have up to 2500 miles of range and cross entire deserts very easily.

1 - Perhaps - when you lock the door from the inside, the door step outside could retract? .. and obviously visa versa - when you unlock the door - put the door step back into place. Make this a customisable option. It would really say "do not disturb". 2 - I think the outside window tinting needs to have intermediary steps or levels of opacity - perhaps even allowing the top of the windows to stay more transparent than the bottom? I think the transparency of the windows in the Cyberlandr can be adjusted - just no scaling of transparency between the top and the bottom of the same window... i3 - In my current Caravan, the biggest use of Water is washing dishes. I like the idea of a small 4-people dish washer - as it will save water and give us all more camping time. Please look into that option! Second place is the shower - so I hope the shower head has a fine mist option. 4 - Where is the spare tyre? 5 - I believe an awning is coming. If there was a "wind" detector - perhaps the awning could automagically wind itself in so it does not get damaged? ... and can we have flexible Solar Panels on the Awning as well please! 6 - Can we have a Camera at the rear - that links to the towing vehicle driver seat? 7 - What about Proximity sensor driven outdoor lights to light up the outside for when one comes "home" - obviously also with a timer system as well as fully On and Off.

We towed a 21' Safari Condo trailer with our 2020 Model X. Cut our range in half. Having the powered wheels would be a huge improvement. We also bought a Trailer Valet which you hooked up to the trailer hitch and provided the power to move the trailer into your campsite space. Really helpful when your dining room is on the hitch end of the trailer. It was always a crowd pleaser when we'd hook it up and "drive" the trailer into our site. Obviously much nicer to have the system built in.

I’ve been towing a 17ft Safari Condo for 6 years with my 2017 Model X. At 55mph on a level dry road it cuts the car range by 35-40%. I plan my charging stops carefully and it’s not a problem. The Pebble Flow is very impressive but too heavy to tow with an X which has a max towing weight of 5,000lbs. I wish Pebble had made a 20-21ft lighter version. I don’t need such a big trailer.
@k89237 ай бұрын
@@JoeCool-l7h I wonder if the wt is still an issue when the trailer has powered wheels.
@JoeCool-l7h7 ай бұрын
@@k8923 The answer to your question is difficult to determine. In theory, a trailer with its own powered drive train that can be controlled so that the tow vehicle does not experience the trailer weight should mean that an X could safely tow a trailer that weighs more than what Tesla says the X is rated to tow.. But if you asked Tesla about that I believe they would take a conservative approach and say “We don’t recommend that!”. And consider this; what if, while you were towing your Pebble Flow with your X, the Flow drivetrain had a failure and the wheels were no longer powered. Suddenly your X is towing a very heavy trailer far exceeding its rated weight limit. To me that is a potentially hazardous situation if you as the driver had to make a quick maneuver. Low probability of occurring? Yes. But very dangerous? Yes.

I appreciate the video, but I think the product is a little too niche for the market. I doubt many cyber truck owner would tow an expensive trailer like that. I assume that cyber truck owner would airbnb or rent a cabin. I tow myself with an older V8 truck, AND have a Model Y for daily driving. When the charging network is five times better AND can accommodate trailering, I’d prefer a 600mi CyberISH-Truck and an Airstream Flying Cloud😂

Can't wait to get a Pebble Flow in New Zealand, just hope those nice windows have bug screens or it'll be renamed "Insect Flow"

What happened to the Tesla trailer that was unveiled with the Cybertruck on the websiye

Can it link to Tesla vision for sentry security and Tesla trailer awareness while driving? Trailer braking control would be very good too 😊

You can mount the ipad in the truck and see a 360 view of the pebble while driving

They should remake another model call spike with every round corner replaced with a 90 degree sharp angle to match the cybertruck

I could have backed up and connected my 1999 diesel to my trailer faster than that. Not to mention ill go 500 miles off grid while you gotta go back for a charge
