Regarding Cybertruck reservations - I have a RN starting 113 and could still see the tri-motor yesterday. Today, I'm no longer able to see the tri-motor configuration or edit my order. Previously, this had only happened to 112 reservation holders. Curious what this might mean. Exciting times ahead!

After listening to the founder of Boston Dynamics and working with some other robotic companies, the rate of progress of optimus is so much more impressive than most people think. The only way they were able to do this is the end-to-end AI approach, since it actually is a super hard problem to predict behaviour of a human shaped robot. I cant wait for their progress on working with heavier objects and carrying them, this seems to be the hardest challenge for most industrial robotics companies.

I can only imagine, that the next update on Optimus will be a more fluid walking gate that is more human-like; ie like using “heel-to toe” vs. a robot whole foot floor contact pushing forward. Additionally a modest run gate would be amazing to see.
@Luiblonc
@Luiblonc Жыл бұрын
Additionally the Optimus team of engineers can also improve the hand grasping objects more human like. Example; when you reach for a medium size object or small, prior to making contact with the grasp, the hand and fingers doesn’t fully extend prior to grasping it - but rather the fingers adjust quickly to the size of the object before it makes contact. This could save immense power in this process.

If all they need are videos of the required job, we can just create it with VR and show the AI what we want it to do. Or you can show it a training video crated by an animation studio. We create videos for viewing enjoyment, it would be just as easy to crate videos to train for specific tasks, and then grow from that. It took Boston Dynamics, from what I understand, "Almost a year and half of choreography, simulation, programming and upgrades that were capped by two days of filming to produce a video running at less than 3 minutes.." to put that show on. What Tesla is doing is putting Boston Dynamics to shame. They spend that much time to give us a dancing video of 3 minutes, and they have spent up to 30 years now developing and programing to get to that level. Tesla is using AI to train its robots in less than 6 months from the initial protype release. Putting this into perspective...if you are not using AI and video training you are not going to compete on any level...period.
@Urgelt
@Urgelt Жыл бұрын
Tesla's AI progress is insane. Note: LLMs can't do that. Not on the table at all. Nor can competing robot manufacturers. They have more advanced physical bodies, but they rely on hard coding, not AI neural net programming. Limited! The physical sophistication will come. But it's the brains that matter. Wall Street is sleeping on Optimus. Thanks for your reporting, Rob.

Best way to estimate Tesla's quarterly results - hear everyone's guesses then remove the outliers (extreme low bears and extreme high bull fanboy estimates). Go with the middle avg. 9 times out of 10 you'll be right with this method. Then, the 10th time will be the moment when a dramatic catalyst explodes onto the scene and the quarterly will fly very high (and the stock will be in a period of gap-jumping). Works every time ! : )

Ford's comments about its new EV battery production facility in Marshall could also be related to general industry considerations overall, regarding the amount of red ink that Ford will have to absorb before becoming fully profitable as a corporation within the EV production realm. There is almost certainly more than a little equity that Ford will have to lose or throw-away during its period of transition from manufacturer of ICE vehicles to an EV manufacturer. Sure, the UAW piece of that pie is relevant, but so also is much else. UAW is not the deal breaker here. Rather, the real culprit is that Ford (and GM and all the other legacy OEMs), waited so long to begin its own transition from ICE vehicles to EV's.

I'm so tired go giving a third of my money to a gov that is run so poorly, it doesn't even negotiate with it's big donors anymore just hands them our money. this makes the poor poorer and the middle class disappear.

Rob, you're fantasizing about how good Optimus will soon be. Sorting laundry is Waaaaaaaaaaaaay harder than standing there sorting a few blocks. It will be useless for a long time.

I didn’t give a timeline on that task so you don’t have enough information to claim that I’m fantasizing. Obviously it’s harder.

@@TeslaDaily It's silly to say that some updates will allow Oppy to handle laundry. No way will it do anything practical with random laundry any time soon. It will be far too stupid to understand different types of clothing, and won't have the hands and dexterity to handle laundry properly, and folding will be far harder still. This little block task is literally a nursery-school task, where for robots, sorting laundry is at the level of medical-school. Oppy will not be doing useful work in the open world in a few years, it will be relegated to stunts. General work is way harder than autonomous driving, which of course is very hard, and FSD won't achieve in the coming few years, very likely not by 2030. You're too deep in the Elon cult to see clearly, dude.

Nezt time raw color eggs. for Tesla Bot

Does Tesla have a natural data source correlating language with real world objects and activities? It's not obvious to me what that data source would be, and without such a data source, how the block sorting activity scales to anything useful. If I tell the Tesla bot "Pack the fragile items in bubble wrap, but pack the tough items with no bubble wrap." how will they train the bot to know which objects are fragile or tough?
@markthomas7279
@markthomas7279 Жыл бұрын
I assume the way a human child would learn. I guess if you wanted eggs sorted then you could video teach a bad outcome of fragility. I suspect there would be a pressure sensor in the hand.

Was the training watching videos of humans sorting colored blocks onto colored trays? That’s very unclear. If that was the training and then the “prompt” is simply “sort these”, that’s one thing. But if the training videos were not colored blocks and colored trays, or if the prompt was “put the green blocks on the green tray and the blue blocks on the blue tray” then that’s a different ball of wax.
