After listening to the founder of Boston Dynamics and working with some other robotic companies, the rate of progress of optimus is so much more impressive than most people think. The only way they were able to do this is the end-to-end AI approach, since it actually is a super hard problem to predict behaviour of a human shaped robot. I cant wait for their progress on working with heavier objects and carrying them, this seems to be the hardest challenge for most industrial robotics companies.

@Luiblonc Жыл бұрын
Additionally the Optimus team of engineers can also improve the hand grasping objects more human like. Example; when you reach for a medium size object or small, prior to making contact with the grasp, the hand and fingers doesn’t fully extend prior to grasping it - but rather the fingers adjust quickly to the size of the object before it makes contact. This could save immense power in this process.

If all they need are videos of the required job, we can just create it with VR and show the AI what we want it to do. Or you can show it a training video crated by an animation studio. We create videos for viewing enjoyment, it would be just as easy to crate videos to train for specific tasks, and then grow from that. It took Boston Dynamics, from what I understand, "Almost a year and half of choreography, simulation, programming and upgrades that were capped by two days of filming to produce a video running at less than 3 minutes.." to put that show on. What Tesla is doing is putting Boston Dynamics to shame. They spend that much time to give us a dancing video of 3 minutes, and they have spent up to 30 years now developing and programing to get to that level. Tesla is using AI to train its robots in less than 6 months from the initial protype release. Putting this into perspective...if you are not using AI and video training you are not going to compete on any level...period.

Tesla's AI progress is insane. Note: LLMs can't do that. Not on the table at all. Nor can competing robot manufacturers. Ford's comments about its new EV battery production facility in Marshall could also be related to general industry considerations overall, regarding the amount of red ink that Ford will have to absorb before becoming fully profitable as a corporation within the EV production realm. There is almost certainly more than a little equity that Ford will have to lose or throw-away during its period of transition from manufacturer of ICE vehicles to an EV manufacturer. Sure, the UAW piece of that pie is relevant, but so also is much else. UAW is not the deal breaker here. Rather, the real culprit is that Ford (and GM and all the other legacy OEMs), waited so long to begin its own transition from ICE vehicles to EV's.
