Great video - thanks! One additional feature. Should you forget your keycard or lose your phone while on the road you can, for example, call your wife and with her app she can not only remotely unlock the car but in fact "start" the car so that you can drive home. And explain to your wife how you lost your phone.

This is an intelligent and thorough review. The independent double wishbone front suspension for example, is not really known about…and it makes a hell of a difference to positive handling and ride. So many good points and revelations in this video.

On point #2 about the glass roof, it's also tempered glass and is designed to absorb and disburse much more energy and over a larger area in the event of a side impact collision... One of the reasons it is so highly rated for crash testing.

Wow! I’ve had my Model 3 for nearly a year now - and I learned more about the car from your video than any other source (and, yes, I read the owner’s manual and have watched countless KZbin videos)! You provided not only the “what” but also the “why,” which was terrific. I know the car has a standard sedan (saloon) trunk (boot) lid - but now I know why that is. And your explanation of the touchscreen was excellent (brilliant) as well! I certainly know it has tremendous advantages, and it puts forthcoming changes front and center, but the way you explained it was so clear and unambiguous. One more reason to love my rolling piece of tech hardware! I look forward to more videos from you. Thank you for your effort.

the ice build up still occurs in my tesla 2021 handle but u just gotta push it harder with ur thumb and it still works fine. :) but sometimes it does get bad... but its only bad for passengers because they dont understand how the doors work lmao
@wiselyauto
@wiselyauto 2 жыл бұрын
If you notice a lot of ice build up within the handle even after preconditioning, we would recommend first gently punching the door handle area (like described in the Model 3 user manual). This should help break up the ice making it easier to push the handle. Pushing too hard on the mechanism can cause the plastic clips in the assembly to break.

The biggest gripe I have with any other manufacturer is how SLOW, LAGGY and CHOPPY the infotainment and instrument panels are (unless they're analog). It should be as smooth as an iPad's, or Tesla's with the Ryzen core. When i saw the Mercedes EQE "Hyperscreen" i realised it's not one screen, but three screens under one piece of glass that are all laggy and choppy and painful to look at.

Absolutely. Luckily with Google and Apple joining the game, cars running on the Android Automotive platform (such as the Polestar 2 / Renault Megane E-TECH) perform very well.

It really should be using the more advanced NFC system for unlocking, including a Digital Key that can be shared to others easily via an iMessage. The Bluetooth system is old tech. I think BMW's system in their new vehicles is far more impressive.

Highly informative video. Thank you. I currently have a top spec Kona 64kW EV that will be 3 years old in August. It is a great car, but I need something a little bigger and plan to replace it with either a Tesla Model 3 / Y long range or a Hyundai Ionic 5 AWD. My current preference is the Model 3 long range with the 18-inch wheels, as I am not a great fan of hatchbacks, though do prefer the high seating positions of a SUV. I would be extremely interested in a video that discusses the UK Model 3 2022 technical specifications for the various variants, standard, long range, and performance and how this compares with the UK Model Y 2022, as available information of Tesla's website is a little limited.

So as a point of information, you don’t have to go into the menu to open the glove box, as you can just use a voice command to do that and you can do just about everything with a simple voice command and I’m sure some of the things that you’d like to do, can easily be added with an over the air update! So I would say to your followers, learn voice commands and start using them instead of touching your screen, particularly when you’re driving! The other thing that your audience needs to know is that this is a car that will soon be fully autonomous & know other manufacturer today has committed itself to doing this & so Tesla has a imagined a future where you will not be driving this vehicle, it will be driving you! Cheers!

I am not a Tesla hater and I own a Model Y performance. The Uberturbine wheels on the performance model is one of the heaviest wheels I have ever had. I wonder why Tesla doesn’t put any lighter wheels on performance model to increasing both the performance and the efficiency.
@wiselyauto
@wiselyauto 2 жыл бұрын
You are correct. The pre-facelift Perfromance Model 3 used to have lighter wheel but there were many reports of them buckling after encountering potholes or other road imperfections, which we think is the biggest reason why Tesla decided to go for a more robust design...

Hey what about the detail where it does the 1/4 mile in 11.5 seconds? Or the little insignificant detail where the car drives you to work? Or how u can move the car with your iPhone 📱? Or how it comes with tesla auto insurance? Idk 🤷‍♂️. My model 3 performance stops at lights ,changes lanes , parks all with FSD. Is that not availability in other counties? In the US FSD beta ,nav on autopilot and auto summon all possible. Kind of a big deal to have in a car .

What if you don't carry a monstrous sized smart phone? What if you are an old fart who needs at least a 15" screen to see anything that is written? Therefore, a simple flip phone with very big numbers is better for you. Some basic buttons for environmental control might actually be nice for the old guy.

8:25 no they didn't. People were blown away by the iPhone in 2007. Microsoft and Blackberry did some damage control and said you need a physical keyboard at the time, but the general public never said any such thing. It was obvious from the initial demo on stage that you could type on the keyboard, Steve Jobs explained well the auto-correction and the ability to change things later. It's not the greatest analogy, because the human race is used to touch screens by now and I still often hear drivers and car enthusiasts and even some Tesla owners wanting some physical controls. I'm not interested in a Tesla because for me they make the wrong design tradeoffs. Yes, the dash is minimal, but a dinner fork with two prongs instead of four is more minimal and yet it's a worse dinner fork. I am not saying every design decision Tesla makes is bad, but for me I want some physical controls. Having no physical buttons for indicators (new S) and having both left and right indicators or turn signal buttons on the same side, for example. That's poor design, IMO. Ferrari does it better. They use buttons, but they are satisfyingly clicky physical buttons and the right signal is on the right side, and the left on the left. Tesla have no physical button on the glove box, but that's where you hand goes when you want to open it. In a Tesla you have to first go to the display to open the glove box. That's an inferior design. A better use of the touch screen for the glove box would have been to have a passcode-lock-glove-box feature via the touch screen, but have the open-glove box button to on the glove box door. For my own Apple analogy: Apple made over-ear headphones two years ago "AirPods Max" and Apple's designers said they first designed the headphones to have touch controls only, but after using these prototypes for a while they figured out for the product needed physical controls and redesigned it thusly. A touch screen is a good idea for certain things in a car, but not for every single feature. There's a famous saying when it comes to design, "design is about trade-offs". For me Tesla makes the wrong ones. Some good idea, some bad ones.

Great Video again loads of interesting details. What a fantastic car, i love it. So much thought put into the design. A car with proper 21st century looks and features. Although I do not like the blanked off look of the front, quite a few EVs do this, it's like the radiator grill not needed so just have a slab instead.Too pricey and long for my needs so i will stick with my I3s...... for the moment .

In case of the AWD versions, the front motor decouples when accelerating smoothly in normal driving, so the efficiency is very simiar to the standard RWD car. If you don't need the performance, range, or added grip of the more expensive AWD versions, the base model is a great pick...

1:50 No, I doubt that. The longitudinal speed (and energy) is added by the rotational speed (and energy). So ig ALL mass of the wheel WOULD be concemtrated on the maximum diameter, you would DOUBLE the energy. IF all wheel mass WOULD be concentrated in the axle with r=0, the moment of inertia is 0, so the rotational energy is 0. Logical conclusion is, the closer the wheels mass is located to the axis (and the lower the mass of course), the smaller the rotational energy. Basically small rims (with same tyre outer diameter) let the car to accellerate faster. In ANY case, the rotational energy is SMALLER than the longitudinal kinetic energy. Logically the "factor" you mentioned can't physically exeed a value of 2.
@wiselyauto
@wiselyauto 2 жыл бұрын
You are indeed correct - we should have made this clearer in the video. The ratio between 3 and 4 is a rough estimate for both, outright mass reduction and going down to the 18" wheel at the same time. For anyone interested in having a play with the numbers, here is a great online calculator explaining the "equivalent mass" of automotive parts in more detail: www.hpwizard.com/rotational-inertia.html

One of the problems I have with my Model S (and would be interested to know if it’s the same for the Model 3 and Y) is that the antenna for Bluetooth and WiFi reception is in the driver side mirror. Which is great until you need to access app functions / summon etc from the passenger side, or you park the car outside your house with the passenger side towards your router...and reception suddenly isn’t as good. Really they should have a repeater antenna in the passenger side mirror.
