The 3 LR even with the pretty massive Tesla price increases still represents really good value. It is truly an amazing daily.

In the UK it's only £5000 cheaper than the performance, when I bought mine last year it was £13,000 cheaper than the performance

@@danpaul4975 Yep, and that's with the 18" wheels, if you go for the 19" then the price diff is only £3500.....which is why I now have a performance on order. Although I intend to sell the 20" uberturbine wheels as soon as i get it and fit some 19" T-sportline TS5 (zero-g style) wheels with much better Michelin PS4S tyres than the mediocre Pirelli P-zero's it comes with. The TS5's are a LOT lighter and will give me range close to the long range and a slight boost in performance.

@@danpaul4975 Agreed. I have a 21 3P as well. The extra power, braking is insignificant to most. To me that and track mode is extremely significant. I have 18 inch wheels with 4s tires. Range and power! For the masses the LR is an amazing daily. Still the performance is Audi Sline or M sport capable. More than enough!

Perfect timing for the video Bjorn. We just accepted delivery of our Fremont LR M3 two days ago. Good to see what real-world range we can expect to get. So far we are really enjoying it and can’t wait to take some summer road trips. 😊

I would say that this "test" is more informative than the range tests, i.e., for actual normal use of a car. I'm saying such, as in my EV, there is a lot of fluctuation in the consumption, between stretches at nearly constant speed, when comparing to just following traffic flow (and of course, staying inside the speed limit on GPS). Like so, I won't say to ditch the range test, that is a more comparable between different cars, but this kind of test, for the more popular cars, would be welcome. For example, I always wondered what the "fat E-Tron" would be capable on a trip like this. Just a recommendation, don't do it on a so long distance, unless the car has a very long announced range.

Hi Bjørn, whether the test is useful or not, this was the most enjoyable of your videos in a long time, just because of the incredible places you go to. It is nice to see geographical variety, even though it might not always be practical, such as where you’re aiming for consistency.

Amazing performance and efficiency in your test of the LR M3. Similar to our 2018 RWD LR M3, where we have been getting amazing efficiency as well over past 4 years. Tesla hit it out of the park with the M3. One incredible car and also a very beautiful car IMHO. I like you doing these kinds of tests. Love your channel.

This is the first range test I have seen that matches our range experience and consumption. We are in Athens with an SR+ (2021 - LFP) and over winter here we were averaging 130 w/klm but now with the warmer weather are also getting less than 120. Just for reference the car is used most for the commute to and from work, about 44 klm total at speeds similar to the ones you just did. At least now, when people express doubts about our numbers I can point them to this video so thanks for that!

Hi Bjorn - I really appreciate all the testing you do. Your videos are what lead me to buying an EV and a Tesla Model 3 LR. One thing I noticed that significantly affect range is the size of your wheels. I switched my 18 inches for 20 inches for the summer and immediately noticed that my efficiency percentages went from 75% to low 60% and even 55% when I drive at 120kmph. So I guess looking sporty goes against range.

Road trip + range test = Great! Doing these kind of videos is fun where you drive different route than 1000km challenge / range test / arctic circle. To challenge your self and the car you can plan a longer route with few charging options, and slow charging speeds (50kw) in a Swedish country road trip? By the way I drove a vw e-up from Oslo to Gothenburg with average of 11,7 wh/100km @90km/h (gps speed).

An average speed of around 70km/h is fairly normal outside motorways in Norway. It can even be lower if you use the more narrow and winding county roads. And it depends on where you are in Norway, as the topography will dictate how winding the road is.

It's a really good test that show a typical real world range but at the same time, we should be aware that it's not a test that you can easily replicate to be the same for every car because at any time - anything goes on these roads! We can use it as a guidance of how it may perform typically. I'll love to see a M3 Standard Range on that kind of drive. For ranges I'll continue to use your 90/120 tests as that's more comparable to other cars since on that one, we know you aim to keep it the same for each car, with same average speed etc.

Great. I have a Volvo Hybrid and that one definitely differs in capacity kWh depending on temperature. Small battery but a full pack, fully loaded can differ from 7kWh and 9.5 when empty. Same day and one cold battery charge and one warm charge. I think that the battery will stack the kWh differently depending on the different chemistry depending on the different temperatures. I'd like to se BMW eDrive 40 do that stretch. I'll have a delivery next year for one of those 😉

Enjoyed this particularly. This is more like a general usage review - with the biewing knowing it is an impression of how well the car will go and not an exact match against the last or next EV you do this type of video with. But if you do this again - the latest Niro EV would be good! Not very sexy, but a very popular car in Europe.
