Factor in state and national incentives and it can make the up front cost of the Tesla less than the Subawu. Then add up the maintenance and, in my opinion most importantly, the time savings of lack of maintenance on the Tesla, and I can’t justify buying the gas guzzler. Sure, some people like to drive a manual transmission. Ok.

I’m a car car guy. I own a supercharged 2000 Nsx and have always had the car to drive. I just got a Model Y and it’s amazing. The Wrx is a fantastic car. You really can’t compare a wrx or a M3 against a Model 3. They are totally different and shine in different aspects. A Model 3 performance will never compare to some fantastic gas cars and Vs Versa. Crazy the divide of some people.

Sold a brand new 22 wrx with this engine for a used 21 model 3 Long range with acc boost and its no comparison the model 3 destroys the wrx in almost every way in my opinion. Fyi they were both $30k my insurance is actually cheaper with the tesla as WRX’s are the most ticketed car in America. Overall, the Tesla is cheaper and faster.

It's important for both people to enjoy it. I have MYP and I find that Subaru's AWD is way more convenient / predictable in the wet. Outside of track mode, MYP tends to grab brakes and spins unnecessary if you're trying to overpower it.

And state incentives. A few states offer $5K or somewhere around there. That’s $12.5K difference, making the M 3 cheaper up front, with double the power, and probably 4x the brake life, infinity more drivetrain lifespan, and on and on fewer maintenance costs.

Love Subaru’s. But most on here are talking about modify their cars. If you want more power in a Subaru just be careful of blown head gaskets! M3P is faster than 99% of daily drivers, a blast to drive and inexpensive to operate. Fact is EV’s are as bad today as they will ever be. 20 years from now it won’t even be a contest.

My dad and I both like the new Model 3 Highland, but my dad says that the Model Y is a better car and that we should wait for the 2025 Refreshed Y since it will probably have the M3HL’s features but on a “more practical” body. Why do none of these reviewers mention that MSRP is meaningless?? Y'all haven't factored in options (Teslas basically all come loaded), the dealer markup, bogus fees, and mandatory packages. And >90% of new car buyers qualify for the $7500 EV tax rebate and state incentives. The Tesla is absolutely comparable in price or maybe even cheaper to purchase, not to mention all the fuel and maintenance savings. And no insurance isn't way higher. If your insurer is quoting a ridiculous premium, switch companies.

I drove a heavily modified wrx hatch for the past 11ish years and then went heretic and moved to a 24 MYP. I have driven every generation of WRX/STI trims on the street and at track events/meets and while there are mechanical advantages of the VA/VB engines over the EJ255/EJ257, it still feels bad to me to lose the unique sound of the unequal length headers in the EJ engine. They also dont feel or look as special to me compared to the GR and prior models. Honestly the new WRX's remind me of Honda Accords too much. I couldn't bring myself to sell my WRX when I went to the MYP so i kept it - but I choose the tesla 99% of the time when I drive, and let my 16yo drive the WRX.

I was looking into getting 2023 WRX last year, and crash test results were pretty bad. Got MYP instead. I'd love to drive a manual WRX instead, but I needed a vehicle I can drive every day to work with 50% highway. I don't care about acceleration anymore, I'd totally get a WRX, but man they should make the pillars stronger.

I purchased the Tenways CGO 800 based on your prior review about a year ago and I have to say the bike is GREAT. It is a luxury bike for sure with excellent components. Tenways does sell multi-speed bikes, but both the CGO 600 & 800 are single-speed bikes. That is OK, as the motor makes up for the lack of gears when on hills. I can't say enough positive things about the Tenways bike. It fits in the interior of my Model Y with the rear seats down and the front bike wheel off, but I purchased a bike carrier for the tow hitch and that makes trucking the bike to riding venues super easy. BMW M3 XDRIVE Competition weighs 3,891 lbs. The Model 3 Performance is around 4060 lbs. Model 3 is lower price and quicker. Better tech. Quieter. It's not going to hit 290 km/h (only 260 km/h), but most people will rarely go that fast. The only thing better about the BMW or Subaru is that music the engines make, but I'm over owning a musical car. I've had them and I'm done with it.

Subaru CVT considered solid. Personally a huge fan anyways. Subaru way more fun as simply doesn't have the massive mass of a Tesla. Also the Tesla is very low to the ground so no good off road.

I moved from a modded STI to MYP. Totally agreed with all the things you said, subies are definitely more fun and engaging to drive. I might have to try the new M3P for a comparison. I would say it all comes back to the needs, life progresses, I found myself not having the time to enjoy canyon runs I would like it to be, so the MYP is now ticking all boxes…not saying the Teslas are bad at the occasional canyon runs, but it is good enough. If I get to do canyon runs more? Subie hands down.

Yeah I find that Subaru's AWD is more predictable in the wet. With MYP, outside of Track mode, it grabs brakes way early, and only Plaids have torque steering. Try to overpower it - it jumps and spins the wheels, annoying. I mean, you can always kind of deal with it by using Track mode with minimal traction, but I'd prefer having more agreeable traction control paired with brake assisted torque steering.

I used to own a 1999 BMW Z3 roadster. Now I drive a 2023 Tesla Model 3LR. They are both very good driving cars. The Tesla is quicker, but the BMW has a smaller turning radius. The convertible was really fun until I got skin cancer. The Tesla gives me an open feeling without the UV. The one-pedal driving can be really fun on a mountain canyon road. The Tesla is a much better roadtripping car. Everyone has to make their own +/- comparisons for their individual use cases.

My issue with the noise argument is that it affects more people than just yourself. You might enjoy the noise, but others don't. I enjoy driving a loud car, but hate loud cars screaming by my house while I'm trying to have a bbq with friends. I think something like the Ioniq 5 n is great. Have the noise but keep it to yourself.

As a former race car driver and performance product developer, please keep your noise to yourself. Fart cans and loud pipes do almost nothing. To those that take your cats off (especially a daily driver) drive behind your car for an hour and see how you feel. 'performance' is minimal at best. See above me taking on climate change folks, I'm not on that side. Harleys in inner cities are the worst. Is that trend over soon (lawyers driving harleys)?

@@MrGamman3ytmy Harley is louder than stock but isn’t obnoxious. Guys in sport bikes & metric touring riding behind me always comment on how good my bike sounds. They can hear their stereos no problem. Noise is definitely subjective and it also depends on how you drive the vehicle. Being respectful of others isn’t difficult. You just have to make the choice. “Be the change you seek in others” is my motto.

I will also say the price points are different. If you compared a base model 3 and a base Wrx it would’ve been way better. I still think the Wrx is a great car but the engine hasn’t changed muh from older year models; the Wrx was a car I was interested in getting back in 2022 but ended up getting the 2022 model 3 this year due to price decrease and the tax credit. I still think the Wrx is a great looking car just not into gas powered cars as much anymore.

Not comparable, you would need to compare the same rims with and without aero covers. Using different forged wheels messes up the comparison due to lower unsprung weight that lowers consumption.

IMO Subarus engines are at least 10 years behind when it comes to fuel efficiency. 26 mpg on the highway is terrible these days for a vehicle/engine this size and for the amount of power you get. Look at what ford does these days with the Mustang that gets 33 mpg on the highway. Then the manual gear ratio is likely too short (just like the GR86 which gets same mpg). They keep it short in an effort to improve 0 to 60 times but you wind up constantly have to shift when driving in the city. So it’s less usable in town, then fuel efficiency on the highway is terrible as you are forced to drive at higher RPMs

It's not only because of the engines, it's also because of always on all wheel drive. I mean, yes the engines are also not so great (compared to Golf GTi/R for example, because these can be tuned to ~500hp pretty easily), but most AWD cars kind of "cheat" by using mostly front wheels or rear wheels. Subarus are trying to maintain a more fair distribution, which causes more losses. If you look at Ioniq 5N, it also has an atrocious efficiency compared to normal Ioniq 5.

I've seen the newer ultra red in person and found it doesn't pop in the sunlight as nicely as the original "multi-coat" red. Regarding Subaru as a brand, you have to look at more than the lower price because their mechanical integrity doesn't measure up to Toyota and Acura.
