@@dGooddBaddUglyi bought my euv LT 2 weeks ago. I always charged it at 88% and it gaves me 265 miles so if i charged to 100% the range will be more. Definitely worth the price i paid for it. The Tesla in my opinion, was too overrated. I did use AC while driving my bolt. I think the driving style does make a difference. So i kelt my acceleration pedal steady and i don't drive like fast and furious. Anyway, Bolt was the best decision i made. Tesla price was mostly non negotiable and you don't really need those luxury or technology of the model 3 that cost 12k more than what you pay for the Bolt EUV LT

10:27 This is probably the single biggest factor that wasn't discussed in the beginning, and it's the reason the Chevy Bolt EV has one of the best real-world ranges of any production EV. Not only is the Bolt EV's regen systems one of the most efficient (pushing 80%), the fact that it is the lightest of the four cars also means that it uses the least additional energy to climb in elevation, so it uses less extra energy when climbing, but it regens just as much when descending.

@@markfitzpatrick6692 Thanks, Mark! I did run into Roman once at the LA Auto Show. He looked busy, though, so I didn't bother him. I think some of this is just drama, but some of it is inflexibility. I think Roman either wants the experience to be exactly the same as a gas car or entirely different (Autocharge). Sadly, they do have a point that EA's credit card readers don't work, but we really shouldn't be using them with the price difference anyway. I think I'm going to do a video about the payment options soon, but the Walmart charging network is big news, too. Most of these same channels you mentioned blast Walmart chargers and clamor for convenience store chargers, but that tells me that they've never been in a Walmart before. It literally has all the same things a 7-Eleven has (and cheaper... and more other stuff), so some of this I think is just complaining to complain, for drama's sake, etc.

@@vinsonhelton7141 They did mention it, but I don't think they emphasized just how big of a difference there was. The Bolt EV's battery is nearly 15-20% smaller. In fact, Roman used 62 kWh to complete the trip in the Model 3, and that's only 2 kWh short of the Bolt EV's usable capacity. The Bolt was FAR more efficient on this run than any of the other cars.

@News Coulomb I agree but also the bolt is significantly smaller in size, like you mentioned. The reason I bring this up is to highlight the use case for the bolt being an excellent 2nd vehicle in a family situation where they have more than one vehicle and possibly a gas vehicle also. If GM stops producing the bolt or equivalent that would be a loss to everyone. I'm so amazed at how much my bolt gets driven as opposed to my other vehicles.

One thing to note about the Bolt's range estimator as you head down a hill. Some of the range gains actually do represent charge going into the battery, but most of it is simply the car's computer recalculating how much range is left with a more optimistic efficiency assumption. If you want to want to see how much range is actually going into the battery while you descend, you can bring up the car's energy screen and observe the "kWh used" statistic running backwards while regen is charging the battery.

@D B why? I have a MYP, and my wife has a M3LR. I have a Bolt EUV because I put 4 to 5000 miles per month on my work car. Which is by far more efficient than my MYP. I average 4.6 kw/mile and get over 300 miles on a full charge, which is more than enough to get me through a busy driving day. I make a dollar extra per ride with Uber for driving an electric vehicle, whether you are driving a Tesla or a Chevy. The MYP cost me 66000 out the door and my EUV will cost me 27000 after the federal tax credit. I replace my business vehicle after 150000 miles which my 2017 Bolt EV provided me without any problems. Just rotate and replace tires. My MYP is my family car and is used for long trips, which Tesla supercharger network is unbearable. If you own a business, you shouldn't mix business with pleasure when you are dealing with the IRS. Less headaches that way. I hope that this makes business sense to you.

Regen is great in the Bolt. I also drove over the Appalachians and it was interesting to see that A Better Route Planner said I would arrive at the next charger with 20% battery. It was pretty close because it factors in elevation changes but there were times along the way when the car was saying I had only 5 miles of headroom between predicted range and the remaining miles I needed to drive. It was pretty nerve wracking especially since there weren't any chargers along the way. The car's predicted range started climbing significantly on the way back down.

I do want to see a Mach-E CR1 or Premium in the next test because, well, I have a Mach-E Premium 4X 🙂 We also have a Bolt EV, and no, it doesn't take 2-3 hours to charge it up because the battery is a bit smaller. Where you might have 100-200+ kWh recharge rates - you'll have to plug those bad boys in more frequently. Whereas with the Bolt, Alex could go home plug it in, and have it filled up at peace and comfort. The range test here was brutal and was proof that the Bolt has significant pros when it comes to range anxiety. The ability to get back home from an arduous drive to plug it in and go to bed is comforting.

It's shocking how good that Tesla is. Truly, they were a generation or two beyond what others were doing and even the newest cars from Kia can't touch it... and it's less expensive. But WOW that Bolt! I've said for a long time it's a shame about how it looks (cheap hatchback); GM could have done anything and this is what they decided on. And they saddled it with a really slow infrastructure so the recharging speed takes it off the list for me. But that was a fantastic result for the little Bolt, and the fact you could buy two of them for the price of the Kia is hard to beat. What a great little car! Also, love y'alls interactions! There is nothing wrong with Bolt looks: the hatchbacks are hated in the USA but loved in Europe. Obviously EUV looks a little more SUV-ish and better for American eye. By far the ughliest to me is Beluga Whale faced Tesla. The main advantage of Tesla is charhing infrastructure. That should not have happen since all charging equipment in Germany, Netherlands and especially in Norway just works and all cars there including Tesla comes with CCS2 port which slowly becomes a commercial vehicles standard in the USA. Nobody needs adaptors in Europe and lots of Tesla chargers are open to non Tesla ones. That is unique for the USA the debacle of CCS public network working on the user's good luck.

Great, fun, informative video! Lots to learn here... 1. EVs in generally have a lot of capability as practical transportation of people and stuff. 2. The Bolt is the car lots more people should be driving - it would serve their purposes completely in a very cost effective way. Along with the team, I wish it didn't look like such a crappy econobox - especially the back end. They could price it $10k higher if it looked better. 3. The Volvo is an upscale commuter for people living in snow country. Can tackle shorter road trips, especially for skiing. Perfect for Denver. 4. The Kia is a swing and a miss for me. It does have great technology and comfort, but that's very compromised by the weird styling and by trying to increase its performance in a very clunky way. 5. Tesla still builds the car that's best at being electric, and steps up the value prop a lot by having developed and deployed a really great charging network. I also think their concept for what a car should is probably the most sustainable - keep it as simple as absolutely possible, given the mission and performance goals. Could they build a nicer or more stylish car, absolutely, but that's not what they're actually trying to do.

I need at least 200+ miles of range. I will be traveling no matter which vehicle I get. It's tough because the next car I choose will be a vehicle I'll have for 3 - 5 years. Anyways awesome video.
